Intentional Camera Movement
Thought I would add my little experiment. This is like when your toddler brings you an abstract crayon drawing of the family cat. The talent isn’t necessarily there, but the enthusiasm is. Feel free to print these and tape them to your refrigerator door.
I read an article about this and decided to gave it a whirl. These were taken at night outside my apartment door. I took my cellphone camera, and did what the article said to do. I then put them in Lightroom and went crazy with the color sliders. There wasn’t a plan, I just fiddled with the sliders until I thought it looked cool. This was a fun one-off project, and I may play around with it some more. Maybe with a little more subtle movement and less psychedelic color.
Edit….the last two were taken at sunset

Wow! Thanks for the references. Ms. Overton’s work is spectacular. I will also spend some time with Mr. Brown as well. When I first did this, I thought it was some sort of novelty thing, like Pet Rocks. I have since learned that this is serious stuff, like doing watercolors with a camera.

Have you played around with it?

Just went to your portfolio. Great stuff. I really liked the Ford Trimotor Airplane.
Edit.. I also liked “Echoes of Autumn”, the leaf on the water. That’s first rate.
Edit 2…The more I look, the more I like…”Night Driving To Nowhere” and “Counting Angels” are superb.

RF,
Thanks!
Go to the Overton and Brown sites in Dean’s post above. Amazing work.

Also went to your portfolio site. Wonderful photos. The “London Eye” Ferris wheel and the Sydney Opera House stood out to me. Well done.
