This is one of my favourite images from last year, captured from the Quiraing, Isle of Skye.

The Quiraing is one of my favourite locations here, as there are so many viewpoints you can use to get images from. Generally most images you will see from here have Cnoc a' Mhèirlich (or sharks fin) and Cleat, which of course you see in my image here, however I am always on the lookout for new viewpoints to shoot from.

After a decent amount of rainfall, new waterfalls appear and ones which you may cross as you walk along the path fill up and have a nice flow to them.

After a couple of days of rain I headed out on this particular morning and new exactly where I wanted to shoot from, it was simply a case of waking up the waterfall finding a point which would give me nice flow going down through the frame.

Captured in November, sunrise was at 08:10 and it wasn't until 08:55 that the sun finally made it's way through the cloud to light up the parts of the landscape which I hoped it would (I didn't want it in the foreground). And luck would have it that as it did light up the landscape, a band of rain passed through which was also lit up.

For the techies: I has to use an aperture of f/11 as there is of course a lot of depth to the scene and I would have either focussed on either the hill of the Sharks Fin or Cleat (the hill behind with the light on it) and used a Kase polariser to remove glare from the surface of the water and wet rocks and of course to slow down the exposure time a bit.

The motion of the water at your feet with the vertical panoramic to the distant scene puts the viewer right there! Thank you. I need to see it for my self someday.

Thanks very much Devin, Skye is an amazing place for landscape photography, however of course I am lucky as I get to pick and choose when I head out to get images.

I have had this lens since it came out and it is my lightweight go to lens for walking around in the city and using my infrared-converted camera...
