Mum, being splendid.

The Paradise ducks in the Botanic Gardens are relatively tame - or at least prepared to tolerate humans - but out in the wild they are very wary, and very loud. This makes them unpopular with hunters, because they will set up a loud hooting at the slightest sign of a human, putting everything in the area on to high alert.

Meanwhile, in the Ilex Café...

Will someone show me how to use this thing?

Wonderful detail with all the birds. And my wife asked me if the robins looked familiar... 😁

We took a couple of day trips to Cape Cod after the summer crush ended. I primarily shot landscapes with my IR-modified 7D that I can't post here, but got some nice RF photos too.
I got several photos of this double-crested cormorant swimming near Woods Hole.

I got some nice warmly lit photos of ring-billed gulls at Old Silver Beach in North Falmouth, a place that my family spent a lot of time at when we were kids.

I was very lucky to be able to photograph this great blue heron who caught a large frog. The bird spent a lot of time trying to maneuver the frog into position to eat it.

The next weekend I photographed Nobska Lighthouse and beach in Falmouth and was lucky enough to get the moon rising over the lighthouse. I took this sunset light photo later after the moon rose more but the IR camera visualized the moon rising directly behind the lighthouse (with a much more bright sky) much better than visible photography.

Hi Gareth,

Giant Attack Pigeons? - Well, you certainly get some strange creatures in your part of the world...

(Joking aside, we certainly wouldn't want to argue with this particular one!).

Great to see you survived the encounter - and thank you for sharing... :)

Hi Don,

A superb set of images showcasing nature's beauty (and your talents!) - a treasure of interest gathered here, with absolutely glorious colours throughout.

It's impossible to single out a favourite (but if really pushed, we'd have the final two tied).

Well done indeed - and thank you for sharing... :)

I finally went out to photograph the Atlas Comet and got the Milky Way in the same frame as a bonus. Big Meadows on Skyline Drive in Virginia.View attachment 32329
Hi Art,

An astonishing and utterly spellbinding capture, and - as if the Atlas Comet and Milky Way together weren't enough - those trees are absolutely sublime.

Fantastic! Well done indeed - and thank you for sharing... :)

‘Out of Office’ - Hello, we’re now away until near the end of the month and will be unable to provide any feedback until after we return. Please carry on having lots of fun in our absence - and stay safe! :)

In the meantime, a selection of coffee time ‘processing doodles’ from our most recent Frank Fest, featuring various bits of England.

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PL Elite/ Nik Collection, Adobe LrC/ PS with Tony Kuyper Panels and Topaz Labs Studio 2).

Great pictures!!
I'll be posting a few from Steamtown in Scranton, PA in the next few days.

Yesterday I was prevailed upon by She Who Must Be Obeyed to photograph - on a semi-official basis - a charity golf day in aid of a trust she chairs. She kept telling me not to photograph the birds, but the course was laid out around big lakes, and there were lots of them.

Ma, he's making eyes at me...

We were also blessed by a lack of wind, despite the presence of a Nor'West arch, the wave cloud that usually signals hot windy weather. Nice skies though...

Hi Don,

Cheers - very much appreciated! :)

(When I was looking for images to have a crack at that shot from Karen really caught my eye).

Hi Ken,

A fantastic set of images guaranteed to capture the attention and fire up the excitement level. Looks like you enjoyed this photo opportunity rich setting.

(We've not been here before, but we'll certainly add it to the list of potential visits for when we're next down in that area).

Thank you for sharing - and inspiring... :)

Hi David,

Fantastic! A superb BIF of a beautiful creature - nailed on focus, wonderful pose/ feather detail, nice touch of eye catch-light and perfect motion blur.

Well done - and thank you for sharing... :)

We’re back! A very pleasant autumn visit to Portmeirion (Penrhyndeudraeth, Gwynedd, North Wales), with the forecast 45mm of rain (mostly) missing us. For a change, I (Phil) spent the entire weekend using my R5’s Monochrome profile (albeit, shooting raw I captured everything). Some images to follow (in a bit!).

In the meantime, for our final post of this month, images from a recent visit to Chester Zoo, Cheshire, England.

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PL Elite, Adobe LrC/ PS with Tony Kuyper Panels and Topaz Labs Photo AI. Compilations are: R7 - Karen and R5 - Phil).

Nice set of photos Phil and Kim. I love the detail and color of the orange frog. And a suggested caption for your green friend in series 3: "Tourist season makes me so depressed..."
