Currently planning a trip to Tokyo, and I'll be bringing along my R6II. Still haven't decided on the lenses. For recent overseas travel, I brought my R6II with RF 16-28mm f2.8 STM and RF 24-240mm f4-6.3. The reason why I'm having second thoughts about bringing either of those two lenses on this trip is because I''ll be traveling during rainy, monsoon season. These two lenses are not weather sealed.

Here are my other choices:

- Canon EF 17-40mm f4.0L (with EF/RF adapter)

- Canon 70-200mm f2.8L (with EF/RF adapter)

- Canon 85mm f1.8 USM (with EF/RF adapter)

- RF 16mm f2.8 STM
- RF 24mm f1.8 Macro
- RF 28mm f2.8 STM
- RF 35mm f1.8 Macro
- RF 50mm f1.8 STM

While none of my RF lenses are weather sealed, they are compact enough to hide away during rainy days. Not that I'd take them out in the rain, but they would be easier to carry and maybe use if I had an umbrella.

Have you looked into picking up an RF 24-105 f/4 L IS USM?

They are currently available on the Canon Refurb site for $999. It's fairly compact and light weight, weather sealed, and has a good zoom range. A lot of people use them for travel and walking around lenses. It's not quite as sharp as the 24-70mm f/2.8, and it's a bit slower. But it still has good image quality. That and the RF35mm f/1.8 for night-time and indoor shooting would make a very good travel bundle with not a lot of extra size and weight to carry around.

Thanks, but I was hoping to go with what I currently own.

Hi Sandy,

I would take the 16mm, 35mm, 50mm and the 85mm, but then I do favour prime lenses.
All small and fairly light lenses.
Or the 17-40mm zoom and the 85mm. Less changing of lenses required.

I'd take the R6II with RF 16-28mm f2.8 STM and RF 24-240mm f4-6.3 once again...

...but I'd also invest in a few rain covers.
The R6II with those two lenses is truly an unbeatable outfit for travel! Rain covers might be the easiest option. Thanks!
