I love my Peak Design Slide. I had the same thought as you when I bought mine a few years ago. I also have a Peak Design Cuff for when I want to go strapless and only hold my camera in my hand, like when walking around the house doing macro. I also have a Cuff permanently on my Sony RX-100 compact camera. I can also definitely recommend a Cuff.

+1 for the PD cuff. I find that I am more frequently dropping things since my RA kicked in. I do NOT pick up a camera these days unless I'm strapped in.

I bought that strap a couple years ago. Can’t see ever needing to get anything else. It’s a great and versatile strap!

I've got a Slide, and it used to live on my main camera - but I found it a bit of overkill if you're not toting large lenses. I now have a PD Leash - thinner, more flexible - and it's perfect (IMHO).

I've replaced my ageing (and semi-sh*gged out) Lowepro Flipside 200 with a Flipside 200 AW II. The revised features (storage/ AW) should be useful.

(My existing version has worked hard to keep my gear safe as I try to keep up with Karen when doing silly things involving hiking and cycling up hills).

PS. We are also very happy to recommend Peak Design Slides (having used our Lite V2 straps for around 7.5 years).

(Karen occasionally switches to a Black Rapid RS-Sport strap when using her RF100-500 for prolonged/ arduous sessions, such as all-day zoo visits).

A LeoPhoto lens collar and foot for my RF 100-500 with Arca Swiss grooves. The original popped open on me the other day. Luckily it fell into my lap. Special order from BHPhoto. They had the Haoge one in stock (as does Amazon) but the LeoPhoto has a longer plate and a cushion for your fingers when carrying it by the foot.

A used Canon RF 100mm f/2.8 macro is arriving today from B&H, and I'm quite excited about it. I loved the Sigma EF 105mm macro on my old Canon 7D2, but I sold it because the lens never worked properly on the R7 and R6 bodies I had. So happy birthday to me!

Canon FTb 1971-72 model. Appears to only need light seals as the channels are clean and spotless. The 50mm FD 1:1.8 S.S.C lens is nice without dirt scratches or fungus. Everything "feels" mechanically sound. I have a Loopacell 625A battery on order.

I have some funds being dispersed from my Roth IRA retirement account, so I was daydreaming of what I might buy. I have been thinking about the Canon EF 600mm f/4 but can't afford the RF mount. The EF model II is more affordable than the III, some say it is sharper overall but it is heavier. Anyway, Ebay has a lot from Japanese camera sellers but I noticed not many offer free or low cost shipping, some were as high as $800!

Wondering if this is due to import fees and tariffs. My wife recently purchased a Cuckoo vlock from a company in Germany as a gift for our son and had to pay much more in shipping than if she had ordered it in the spring when she first looked at the site. This was due to increased shipping costs we were told.

Today I was gifted something cool, a camera trapping system. This is a system for setting up a camera in the outdoors, perhaps on a game trail or to capture animals as they move around outside. My friend is an older serious amateur photographer, he's 82 now and realizing he won't be here forever and his kids will have to deal with all his junk when he is gone.

The system is quite well made, a camera box adapted from a Pelican case, water proof and pretty much indestructible. The box has a WIFI controller to fire the camera from an infrared remote sensor and also trigger a waterproof flash. It's all made by a company called Cognisys and I went to their website, the gear he gave me has a current value of just over $2000!

I'll need to do some serious experimenting and studying up on it, I found some good Youtube videos already. Probably try it first in my back yard, I get a lot of cats, possums and racoons passing through back behind our garage. I'm thinking I will use the R7 with a wide angle zoom at first. This is the type of system you could leave set up for months, it has large lithium ion batteries.

I bought two Shimoda camera bags to replace an old Lowepro bag that I gave to my grandniece. An Explore V2 35 and an Urban 30. My daughter is going to use the Urban 30 as her standard pack for an upcoming 5-day trip to Japan. Minus the camera insert of course.

One of my nieces is getting into film photography, so I'm gifting my EF 16-35mm f2.8 to her for Christmas and I need a replacement.

I'm not making light of this, but my 58-year-old brother-in-law died two days ago, and my delayed reaction was that life is too short not to do things that make you happy. So I bought a refurb RF 10-20mm f4 from Canon.

I had the EF 17-40mm during last year's trip to Europe (below: daughter in Brussels, and an airport lounge) and I'm really looking forward to a wider field of view for this year's visit.

I agree completely - do the things that make you happy, stop to smell the roses (or enjoy some really good scotch) and live life to your fullest.

Sorry to hear about your family's loss Dean. I agree completely, if you have worked and earned money then you should use that money to increase happiness in your life. No matter how it increases happiness. For some people, saving and watching the bank account grow means security which makes them happy. To each his own. I am sure you will have some fun with the new lens. And if you don't like it, then you can enjoy the experience of owning and learning from the lens.

I've been looking at Macro lenses for a while and finally bought one. KEH had a very lightly used RF85mm f2 Macro IS STM that I couldn't resist. It arrived this afternoon and other than it not being in a box, I would never know that it wasn't brand new.

No time to actually go play with it yet. I took a quick photo because, well, I just had to do it!

When I was trying to decide between the RF 70-200 F/4 and the f/2.8, I decided on the f/4 version mainly due to weight as I do a lot of hiking. Having saved a good deal of cash by not getting the f/2.8 version, I decided to splurge and used some of the savings to get the 85 f/2 from the Canon refurbished store.
I really like that little lens. Probably the best bang for the buck of any RF lens I’ve purchased.

Well, I did it. Today I pulled the trigger on the RF 14-35mm f/4 L wide zoom. I have been going back and forth between the 14-35 f/4, the 15-35 f/2.8 and the 16-28 f/2.8. Finally decided on the 14-35 f/4 as I usually don't need a wider aperture for what will generally be using it for (landscapes). For that genre, I felt I'd rather have the extra mm on the wide and and a lot less weight than the 15-35 f/2.8. The 16-28 f/2.8 was tempting too but in the end I decided a little more money for the 14-35 was worth it for the extra zoom range.

My wife informed me on Saturday that our bank showed a deposit from one of my IRA distributions. Figured I better spend it on camera gear before she used it to pay bills. I've been wanting a wide angle L zoom lens for awhile. I do have the RF 16mm but then I jump to the RF 24-105mm. I decided a month ago that I would like to get the RF 14-35mm f/4. 14mm boosts my wide angle by 2mm from the 16mm and f/4 is fine with me and is cheaper and lighter than faster glass.

MPB has had the best prices for used, new ones from most suppliers are up around $1399, even CanonPriceWatch had a street price of $1349 which isn't much of a savings. So I went with mpb.com. They had several in Like New condition with all the stuff that is in a new kit and with 3 day shipping and sales tax I got it for $1272. Looking forward to playing with it this weekend.

We think alike! I've been very happy with my 24-105 f/4 as well as my 70-200mm f/4. I find with the lens and IBIS that f/4 works fine and even if I do up my ISO there's great software to fix noise.

That was my thinking as well. With today’s great sensors and great software options, we can get away much higher ISO so than in days past. So, in my view, about the only thing you gain with f/2.8 is a little better background blur, which isn’t much of a concern when most of what I shoot is landscapes. I do have other options if I want to blur the background, like an EF 50 f1.4, EF 135 f/2, or my RF 85 f/2.0.
