I've been on the fence about buying the RF 200-800 lens for an upcoming cruise to Alaska, but since I already have the RF 100-400 and the 2X extender, I decided to get the EF 8-15mm fisheye instead. It's being shipped from MPB as we speak. It's exciting to know I'll have focal lengths of 8mm to 800mm to work with.

Appears the 200-800 lens is fragile breaking in two? Seen it mentioned in a few places

Finally did it. Placed an order for my first real “L” lens. I have about five years of kids sports left and two full years (maybe more) as the volunteer parent photographer for one of the school teams. I take 1,000-2,000 images per event.

Have the the RF 100-500 L coming. I’ve been using the RF 100-400, which is great. But that little bit brighter. That extra reach. A little more comfort shooting when the weather doesn’t cooperate. 1 kilo lighter than the 200-800. Etc.

Pretty excited. I used Canon Price Watch. Great deal brand new and US warranty. It’s how I bought my R6II.

I've got an RF 100-500 L. It replaced an old EF 400mm F/5.6L. The RF lens is big, it's a beast and it's not the fastest sports lens you'll find. But beyond that, it's probably the sharpest zoom lens I've ever used. I'm not all that fond of lugging it around and shooting with it, but when I get home, the benefits become obvious. It's totally worth the downsides. Have fun with it.

I've been looking at different zoom lenses and juggling "what I'd like" with "what my budget will tolerate". I'm not a professional; I like capturing wildlife photos. Anyway, I purchased a Canon RF100-400 f/5.6-8 IS USM lens. That led to the realization that it would not fit in my camera bag, so I also bought a new LowePro backpack. It's a slippery slope!

I have an R100 camera body. The newer lens purchases have both been RF style, which will work with their full-frame line for when I upgrade in the future.

For me, it’s mostly event shooting and in one spot. Down time between races. Rowing. Plenty of light. My 100-400 has been doing well, but I want that little bit better for 5x the money. 😁

It got here much quicker than expected. Had it in time for a regatta and soccer tournament this weekend. It was cold and rainy, so perfect timing for the upgrade.

Still figuring out when to use mode 1, 2 for IS. The boats don’t really move fast enough to call it panning. Snapped a bird on the dock. I don’t post people, so no event photos to share.

Tried adding a couple files, but it’s shrinking them to kb size for some reason.

Yet another bag to add to my collection. I didn't have a wheeled carry-on bag, so I got an open box Vanguard Veo Select 55BT for $155 from Amazon. I was lucky to find it at that price, and I'm not sure I would pay the $235 it's selling for now. (It appears to be "last year's model" and perhaps has been replaced by the Alta Fly 55T.) I've been happy with the Vanguard Alta Rise 33 shoulder bag and MindShift 15 backpack for overnight and overseas trips, but a wheeled backpack might be the best for traveling. I'll find out in a couple weeks...

It is not in hand yet, but I purchased an Oben CT-3565 Travel Tripod after much searching.

UPDATE: The new tripod arrived. It hasn't been to the field yet, but I can report it is solidly built and operates smoothly. I am anxious to try it out in the next few days.

RF 14-35 f4 arrived this afternoon after being out of stock when ordered last weekend. Even better was the fact that there was currently a 10%
discount on the lens. Now need to take out for a test.

Looking forward to your pictures!

Sadly, I am addicted to telephoto lenses. I think I need to go cold-turkey for awhile and force myself to use my wide-angle lenses more.

Here we go, last week:

Sold (traded in) my:
- Eos 90D DSRL
- EF 70-300 IS USM lens
- EF-S 18-135 IS USM lens
- EF-S 15-85 IS STM lens

Bought new:
- Canon R7 + extra battery
- RF-S 18-150 kit lens + filter + lens hood for general travel
- RF-S 18-50 2.8 Sigma DC + filter for low light scenes
- EF(S) / RF(S) mount adapter

Enough for now, time to get started mirrorless journey :-)

Ordered the IShoot replacement tripod collar and foot for the RF 100-500mm. I've been noticing the lens is moving more when locked down. This has been a common complaint from other owners of this lens, it's like the felt or whatever is in between the lens and collar isn't thick enough or gets compressed over time. I got the lens used but in mint condition so don't know how old it is but it wasn't under a Canon warranty or I would have sent it in. The IShoot isn't perfect and only comes in black but I will try it out.

Not camera related but I ordered a second SD drive for my computer. About 2 years ago I switched over from standard large external hard drives for my image files to a Samsung T7 Shield 4TB portable SD drive. Recently it's been acting a bit oddly where it won't wake up and I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it going. I do have cloud backup as well as an external 8TB WD My Book drive that I back up to but the T7 was on sale so I went ahead and got one.

Funny thing is, the on sale price is more $50 than I paid 2 years ago. Wondering if the thread of tariffs pushed the price up. I had Amazon points from the branded card I use do I got $119 off the sale price which did make it less than the previous one.

Not exclusively for photos, but they are what drove the purchase. I upgraded my old 19-inch monitor to a new Samsung 32-inch display. Wow! What a difference.

I have a 19" HP monitor I needed for school in 2019. I REALLY need to upscale.

NiSi JetMag Pro Landscape ND Kit 82MAG Magnetic Filter Kit

My kits complete in my opinion plus got a couple on special sd cards

I picked up a Ruggard Dry Cabinet (EDC-180LC) to store optics and electronics.

(On sale now at B&H)

I've got the 100mm squares and I wish I could justify to my wife that I need a new set almost identical to what I already have.

I picked up this extended silicon eyecup for the R5m2. It extends about 3/16" (or 0.5cm) further than the original. The fit is quite good, and it is somewhat softer. The original would sometimes press uncomfortably against my eyebrow, especially during odd-angle shots. I usually shoot without my eyeglasses on, but sometimes I don't have time to remove them and this softer eyecup is more forgiving in those circumstances. The product is also available for other R models.
