Annnd I just received a Leofoto replacement lens footsie thingy (blame SwampGrizz 🤪) for the RF100-500mm. Lots more room for my left (holding) hand and the tripod head.

I’ll be pleased to be your scapegoat for the evening…..just get in line behind my wife. 👀

Yah, I just paid $596 for a 2TB Lexar - The last one I bought (last Sep) was $370.

Ugly.

But I wanted a spare and I'd rather not pay $1000+ (and likely more) in the foreseeable future.

I bought a 128GB Prograde v90 SD card from a shop in Arizona for $134 for my R6m3.

One of the reasons I grabbed the R6m3 when I did was because of the free Prograde CFX-B card. I'm sure if I had waited the prices for storage will only go up.

In my entire life as a tech nerd, I've never seen anything like this. Electronics and memory prices have never gone up in price since computers started being sold to the public. It's ludacris.

I really need a backup CFX-B card, but can't afford it right now. At least I've got SD cards as back ups.

I got a twin pack of SD cards from B&H.
They made sure it wouldn't get damaged in shipping.

And THAT is one of the many reasons why I love B&H!

(....unlike Amazon, which, if you're lucky, will toss in a sheet of Kleenex into the oversized box containing your soon-to-be damaged lens.)

🤬

Not Canon, but bought the OMS ED 50-200 f/2.8 Pro, bought the OMS ED 12-100 f/4 Pro. sold the OMS ED 40-150 f/2.8 Pro.

Regular readers may recall I have an alarming tendency of doing particularly silly things - e.g. a few years back, while on holiday I went in search of a sun hat and returned with a guitar (and a sun hat). The latest manifestation of this is the arrival of an Apple Studio Display XDR, the first impressions of which are that it is a rather wonderful bit of kit. (Karen ‘four screens’ Moore has now added my Asus ProArt monitor to her own tech set-up).

I am joyful and childishly excited (in the manner of a man who hasn't yet seen the latest credit card bill)... :)

I love my ASUS ProArt P16 and ASUS 27" monitor

Not offered at Canon Canada yet. Even marked with my wife's red nail beautifying paint they are still a pain.
Definitely the most poorly designed lens cap ever! According to the online retailer I purchased them from, they should be available by July here in the U.S.

Purchased an RF 24-105mm f4.0L, arrived yesterday. Can't wait to test it out fully this coming weekend!
I've owned that lens since 2019 and love it. We have all had lenses over time and there are ones you think about selling. That lens has never been in that category.

Thank you! Interestingly enough, I too have 3 lenses I have never thought about selling; Nikon 24mm f2.8 AF-D, Nikon 35mm f2.0 AF-D, and a Nikon 180mm f2.8 AF-ED. The irony is that I no longer own any Nikon full frame bodies! It's just that those 3 lenses were so good that I couldn't bring myself to selling them! Maybe someday I'll buy a used Nikon D850 and get to use them again.

I only have one I regretted selling. The EF 100 Macro 2.8 II IS. If I still needed it I'd likely would have have purchased the RF version. No choice as O sold my EF-RF adapters.

Don't forget you new lens is not a prime. Despite that it exceeded my expectations. I was strolling around a small town in Spain doing some urban shooting and heard all this racket. A bunch or parakeets in a tree. Once pets were apparently released and have overrun the Iberian peninsula.

Thank you for sharing those beautiful images! Spain is truly a photographer's paradise!

Also, thank you for bringing up the fact that the RF 24-105 f4.0L is not a prime lens. It seems to be pretty sharp, but not as sharp as my less expensive primes so far. My goal is to use it as an all-around lens for travel though, and take into account that my expectations should not be that of a prime lens.

All my primes have always been sharper. I used to say my 100 Macro was so sharp I had to keep bandaids in my bag. :)

One from Porto, Portugal at 24mm.

Back in the film days I shot probably 60% of my pictures with either a 24mm or 105mm prime. When I went digital (with a significant gap between film and digital) I also switched to zooms. When I saw they made a 24-105mm zoom, I thought, this is perfect. It exactly matches my shooting style. I heard some disrespect about it being a kit lens, but since I bought my first FF DSLR, a Canon 24-105/4L (both EF versions and now RF) has always been in my quiver.

And that Nikon 180/2.8; I owned the ED-IF version back in the film days. That thing made negatives so sharp I needed eye protection at the light table. I was afraid of slicing a cornea on a contrasty neg.

IMO the RF version is much better. When I got into event photography I sold the EF version for the EF 24-70 2.8 II. Spectacular lens. After my event days were over that lens was a little heavy for travel so when the R came out I sold it for the FR 24-105. I was a little worried until I took those first few shots. There are reviews and charts which are impotent but sometimes your good old eyes just know.
