We hope you enjoy creating memorable images this month!

Have fun - but stay safe and well…

Any R System images (stills or movies) can be posted. If you would like to say something about the subject, settings, or processing, that will be very welcome.

Remember, you don't have to only post things you took this month - sometimes people don't get around to processing/ editing images straight away. (Think of it more as an ‘images I’d like to post here this month’ thing). Images taken with non-R System lenses are also very welcome as this adds to the interest.

Images posted on this thread will also be available to view in the dedicated Monthly R System Images Gallery, which can be found Here.

Commenting on people’s posts is encouraged, as it keeps everyone interested and coming back. (Please aim to be considerate, thoughtful and constructive).

We aim to provide feedback - but note we are away for part of each month and busy with ‘life stuff’. The lack of a comment from us is not a sign of disfavour!

Finally, please post in accordance with the RF Shooters Community Guidelines.

Thank you!

As we recover from our first 'Rimmer-Fest' (a spontaneous trip to a previously unvisited wildlife park in our new EV - a shade under 8,000 raw files for Phil to sort through), here are some images from our latest visit to Portmeirion, Gwynedd, North Wales (our final shots from 2024, we're ready for this year to begin!).

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PL Elite/ ViewPoint/ Nik Collection and Adobe LrC/ PS with Tony Kuyper Panels).

So, as I've said in another thread I'm taking a multiple exposure class and I'm having fun trying some new things. This week we are doing architecture so it's been a lot of fun, the first three involved taking two images (the same or different) and flipping one upside down then combining them. The last one was taken walking down the street and taking an image every 3 steps then combining them. So fun! I hope you enjoy!

Hi Hali,

Another imaginative set of creative images - picking a favourite is rather tricky, but we are leaning towards image #2.

Inspirational stuff once again - well done and thank you for sharing... 🙂

(In case anyone notices, we readily forgive the minor brand/ model lapse with image #1, having done the same thing).

OMG!!!! I forgot about that one little foray into the dark side. I will take it out so that I don't sully the forum!

But thank you, it's fun playing and putting images together to see what interesting things happen. The failures outweigh the successes for sure. But it's nice to have something so different than anyone else's images of a well-known spot.

A wonderful set of images Karen and Phil! I think #3 is my favorite. Something about that statue really speaks to me and I love the stonework in the buildings around the courtyard. The very tranquil scenes of #2 and #5 run a close second and although I'm usually not a fan of selective colour the giant chessboard catches my eye.

Nice image of that Cormorant! I really like the upraised wings. I think gulls make great images and they are good for practicing my BIF work!

Hi Hali,

No offence taken by me at all (in fact it made me smile as I recall posting an image taken using a fruit based communication device quite recently - only realising I'd done so some time after the event. People were either kind enough not to make a fuss about it - or no-one looked at the image... :D ).

I have to be very careful to set the LrC Filter for R images when selecting shots to post here as - like many - we also use a range of non-Canon devices.

Either way I thought it was a great image, but thank you for tidying things up... :)

Hi Hali,

Cheers - appreciated! We've photographed Portmeirion extensively over many years, so it's become a challenge to try to do something a little different - this time around I shot the whole weekend using monochrome (albeit in raw), which gave a fun perspective through the viewfinder. Karen took our Sony RX10IV and also used her iPhone 15 Pro Max (so careful use of the Filter was needed in LrC before posting here!).

We're already looking at a visit for the coming year, so you may be seeing similar (but different) shots again... :)

Day one and getting the rust out of my gear and mostly me. Day one across the big pond.

Found my buddies at Cormorant Rock which I named.

Not much up there today except gulls.

Hi Only RF,

Looks to us like any cobwebs have been dusted off without too much trouble as the intriguing cormorant composition and nailed on BIF demonstrate.

Hopefully a fun shooting year lies ahead.

Thank you for sharing... 🙂

Off topic I'm sure happy I got a new 15" MacBook Air. I was really struggling on my old 13". Viewing everything much easier.
Hi Only RF,

Congratulations on your new tech - you can't beat screen real estate when it comes to image processing... :)

Yeah last year I brought a cheap 21" HD monitor for 100 Euro which did not pan out as I hoped. We stored it here and I'm going to donate it to an organization that takes care of stray cats. They live out doors but are fed and get medical treatment.

Hi Gareth,

A terrific collection of vibrant and aesthetically pleasing flora - but that hedgehog has stolen the show (surely an early contender for cutie of the month!).

Great stuff - and thank you for sharing... 🙂

Thanks Phil. I really enjoy taking pictures of things that don't move too fast (but that doesn't stop me trying...).

My granddaughter is in her senior year and hopes to study to be a veterinarian after she graduates. Yesterday she exhibited the lamb she raised in the FFA (Future Farmers of America) program. I thought they looked really good in the arena and I don't know much about what judges look for but in the end she took a 6th place. Clearly the lamb did not agree with the judge and put up a protest at being moved to the back of the lineup!

I wasn't sure what lens and camera to bring, the arena is not too large but it is fairly dimly lit. I decided on the R7 and RF 70-200mm f/4. Since there wasn't any real action I could get the ISO down to an acceptable level.

Hi Chris,

A pleasing series of images from what appears to be a real challenge (both in the photographic and Ovis quadrupedal sense - love those woolly booties!).

And what a fantastic achievement by your granddaughter - to rear and manage this bundle of life.

(Young lambs are so full of the joie de vivre, they always make us smile).

Photographically, nicely controlled shots - plenty of detail and rich colours - well done and thank you for sharing... :)
