Hi there, everyone. My name is Curt and I live in Las Vegas, well, actually, Henderson, Nevada. I’ve been a long time Canon digital Shooter, since the 20D (then 5D, 5D Mark II and 5D Mark IV with lenses 24-70 L, 70-200 L, 85 f1.2 L, 85 f1.4 IS L, 135 f2, and 300 f4 L) and before that, a Nikon film shooter (F2 since about 1972, an F5, a Hasselblad and a Mamiya RZ67). Just this past week, I decided to move into Canon Mirrorless with an R5 Mark II, an RF 28-70 f2L, an RF 70-200 f2.8 IS L Z, and just today ordered a RF 100-500 L and a Really Right Stuff PG-02 Mk II Pano Gimbal head. I know…lots of equipment, huh!?

I’ve been trying to learn the R5 II, and I must say, it’s going to be a challenge with this new (to me) mirrorless technology, but it’s exciting! Looking forward to learning new stuff from all of you here!!

Hello & Welcome!

I can highly recommend Nina Bailey's Understanding the Canon EOS R5 Mark II camera. It presents alot of the nuance of the R5II in an easy-to-follow manner.

I hated the foot on my 100-500mm and replaced it with a Leofoto. RRS has one as well, but it is more expensive by a third and usually has to be special ordered. Both offer more 'knuckleroom' when holding the lens and allow more flexibility when mounted on a tripod.

You'll love the RRS PG-02 - I know I love mine!

(PS. You need more lenses!)

The R50 is a fine entry level/beginner/casual stills camera. It is not a pro level camera, but would be fine for hiking, street, family photos...

A nice camera specially if you want to save some money
I bought the Canon R6 in 2024 to replace my Canon R7. After researching the market, I decided to go with the R6 instead of the R6 Mark II. Why not...
