The depth of field (DoF) becomes smaller the closer you are to the subject. For example, using those settings at a distance of 10 feet from your subject will give you a DoF of just over 17 feet.
Walk closer to 5 feet away and your DoF becomes just over 3 feet.
1 foot away and now it's about 1-1/2" for your DoF.
3 inches and you have 1/16".
