One of the clubs I am in holds a big judged contest every year. There are 8 categories and we can enter up to 2 images per entry. The images have to be of high quality and resolution as winners will have to make prints that will be matted and hung in a local gallery. We allow 4 aspect ratios, 1:1, 1:2. 2:3 and 4:5 and the mats are 20 x 24 inches so pretty big prints. The images can come from the past 2 years. Basic photo editing is allowed for 7 of the categories and for Artistic Digital Manipulation just about anything goes. Only thing for this category not allowed is images created with text generated AI.

So here are my entries, all but one was shot with a Canon R or R7, the one loner was with my M5 so was also mirrorless. Here are my submissions by category:

Artistic Digital Manipulation
1. I had this idea to photograph my grandson who is into digital gaming. Taken on an old bridge with his virtual reality headset on, background added in pp.
2. A composite of a statue of Apollo and his harp and a beach I visited in Aruba. The lighting and color would never match so I created a new look.

B&W Architecture
Just 2 captures

Intentional Camera Movement
These were fun, first shot of my dog at the park having Zoomies. Second was in downtown Houston. The train shot is was the one taken with a Canon M5 camera.

Images from club field trips
1. From a field trip to some of the old painted churches near Houston. Most were built by German and Czech immigrants.
2. From a monthly local car show.

Open (any subject)
1. A heron having a bath
2. water drop macro shots on a CD with LED lighting

Bridges, Roads and Monuments
Both were taken on a trip out to the Texas Hill Country last spring

The Seasons
Spring is probably our most interesting season here in SE Texas.

Texas (anything Texas oriented)
Taken last spring, what says Texas more than a longhorn bull in a field of bluebonnets. Cannon fire from an outdoor rodeo event.

Nice set, Chris, and good luck with the competition.

Great set, Chris! Hope you do well!

I was notified that 8 of my 16 entries were chosen by the judges to be in "The Winner's Circle". They don't reveal where one's images placed until the night of our show event. But it means they may have placed first, second, third, honorable mention or curator's choice. I'll report back after November 18th which is the night of the event.
