Have seen this from a few users now - I like many others have used Black rapid or like straps that have a single fitting to the tripod mount on the base of the camera - I have used these on all my 1D series bodies with lots of different lenses inc the 200-400 so heavy kit and never had an issue.
HOWEVER - it seems that the design of the plate on the R1 is a lot flimsier (photo's below grabbed from one on the FB posts) I noticed that Canon have added a proper strap mount on the bottom BUT how do I fit a single tether to it?
