I have the 800/f11 and it's a great lens. I was a little apprehensive at first. It's definitely a niche lens. I thought I would have trouble finding light to make it useful. However, after limiting my ISO to 4000 and setting my control ring to set ISO, I just look through the Viewfinder and turn till I get an acceptable shutter speed.

And the close focusing allows me to use it in places where a long Tele couldn't focus. In a pinch you can switch to crop and get 17MP at 1200+mm with decent results.

In fact, we got some sun today and I'm taking it to Seattle and take some shots across from Alki (about 5 miles). I'll post some photos later, if I can remember (76 now).
