Birds Two Birds: Black and Whirly

Lately I have been trying to get one good photo every day on my walk. I was hiking a local trail and after a practice shot of two crows in a dead tree I turned my camera off.

About 20 steps later I heard a helicopter coming my direction from the right over the woods. I made a snap decision:
~ Turn the camera on.
~ Extend the lens to 500mm
~ Point and Shoot

Single shot and zero crop. Coming from the film days I find it extremely difficult to grasp the concept of Spray and Pray: Sheesh, photos cost money before you take a picture and afterwards!
