I have found the BR-E1 to be much more reliable as a remote shutter trigger than Canon Connect with my Android smartphone.
But, since I often do long exposure photography with ND filters, my favorite is the JJC corded remote. It does everything I want. I can lay it in my tripod's stone bag.

I have a Pixel TW-283 remote stored in a Maxpedition "Cocoon pouch" attached to my tripod. That way I never forget it when I'm leaving the house.

Not strictly photography related, but I was in NYC last week, and took a trip to the B&H Mothership.

I bought a Rode Wireless Pro mic set, and a Small Rig camera multi tool.

I have not purchased it. Having a serious look.

Interesting rig. That dude is awfully casual tossing that BAL (Big Azz Lens) over his shoulder... For me, I'm always paranoid that I haven't tightened everything down properly. So,I try to have a strap to the camera body and a secondary strap to the lens.

He has quite a few birding videos out and is fairly popular. I emailed him once about the R5 and he answered promptly. He does not give that setup away. I’ve read a few people use flag bearer harnesses which are far cheaper but don’t look as comfortable. You get what you pay for.

I’m finding it’s getting tougher to hold my light lens for longer periods. I use a PD Slide shoulder strap which has been great for the last 8 years. I found the two biggest complaints by any shoulder strap more annoying than usual this year. Tendency to come off the shoulder and it getting in the way.

I seemed to miss more shots this year during my travels. I don’t need it at my eye. Several inches lower would be fine. Just less travel time to the eye when the action starts.

Steve, thanks for the tip about the Pixel TW-283 wireless timer remote control. Amazon delivered one today and it works like a champ right out of the box. At $41.31 USD delivered it was a great investment!
