I have found the BR-E1 to be much more reliable as a remote shutter trigger than Canon Connect with my Android smartphone.
But, since I often do long exposure photography with ND filters, my favorite is the JJC corded remote. It does everything I want. I can lay it in my tripod's stone bag.

I have a Pixel TW-283 remote stored in a Maxpedition "Cocoon pouch" attached to my tripod. That way I never forget it when I'm leaving the house.

I have not purchased it. Having a serious look.

Interesting rig. That dude is awfully casual tossing that BAL (Big Azz Lens) over his shoulder... For me, I'm always paranoid that I haven't tightened everything down properly. So,I try to have a strap to the camera body and a secondary strap to the lens.

Good to know. Thanks for the recommendation.

He has quite a few birding videos out and is fairly popular. I emailed him once about the R5 and he answered promptly. He does not give that setup away. I’ve read a few people use flag bearer harnesses which are far cheaper but don’t look as comfortable. You get what you pay for.

I’m finding it’s getting tougher to hold my light lens for longer periods. I use a PD Slide shoulder strap which has been great for the last 8 years. I found the two biggest complaints by any shoulder strap more annoying than usual this year. Tendency to come off the shoulder and it getting in the way.

I seemed to miss more shots this year during my travels. I don’t need it at my eye. Several inches lower would be fine. Just less travel time to the eye when the action starts.

Steve, thanks for the tip about the Pixel TW-283 wireless timer remote control. Amazon delivered one today and it works like a champ right out of the box. At $41.31 USD delivered it was a great investment!

Define serious or is actually GAS? :) I have been looking for about a week from Cotton Carrier to rest of them. This is the closet that will my requirements. Having the camera nearer to my eye to eliminate fatigue while still having mobility. Other method place the lens foot at the bottom which I have always disliked. Also I'm not getting any younger.

I got the yoke kit in black. Not the complete kit as he adds a few things so I went with the harness and Wimberly only. I ordered the monopod separately which I'm sure I could have found for less. I have a carbon monopod but when retracted is about 5 inches longer than the one he sells. It would have put the gear at my face. By time I find a similar one or the one he sells and add another shipping cost I decided to save myself the headaches.

Just to sum it up yes this a tad expensive. The harness is made per order so that drives the price up. Still was not easy pressing the buy button. I got the Wimberly Mono Gimble for less in Canadian dollars than I could in Canada. The monopod is another story. I chose USPS for shipping. I avoid UPS, etc as once the brokers get their hands on it I've had a few surprises. We'll see.

I've had RRS and Kirk Arca clamps and they have never come loose. The Arca rails have stops on the ends. Despite that I doubt I'll be that brave with mine.

I just gave up my quest for a used 85mm lens that can be adapted to the Canon R and Fujifilm GFX bodies. The Youtube influencers all recommend the Canon EF f/1.2 or f/1.4. Those don't go for anything less than the price of my left pinkie finger, and 85's seem to be among the highest-priced used lenses right now. I blame the influencers.

I almost bought a $200 Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 in the EF mount, but I just wasn't convinced. And I almost won a Goodwill auction for a Canon FD 85mm f/1.8, but I let it go because ... well ... one can never be sure about $170 lenses from Goodwill.

What I ended up with is a $110 Canon FD 100mm f/2.8 SSC (with the absurd EBay rating of "Excellent +++++"). It's the equivalent of ~79mm on the GFX, which is very close to what I was looking for anyway. I think I'll be pretty happy with it.

Today I moseyed on down to my Local Camera Shop and bought myself a brand new R6 mkIII.

They were running a special until Saturday where you get the camera, plus a free Prograde 128GB CF Express B card and a Prograde CF Express/SD card reader.

PLUS, they were offering an extra deal through Saturday where they also paid the sales tax on the camera. So I walked out of there with the camera, the card and card reader for $2799 flat.

I also picked up an extra LP-E6P battery and the BG-R20 battery grip. Sadly the battery grip was not covered by the tax free promo.

I'm enjoying mine.

Happiness is new toys to play with!

Even better when you get a good deal in the process!

Congrats!

I really like my R6 Mkiii also! It's been a very useful upgrade from my old Rebel T8i.

I would very much like to see some photos from this camera. Maybe you could post them in the non-R area. I’m interested in a small street camera, and have been keeping my eye on one of these.
I will take it on my holiday next week and I am looking forward to seeing what it and I can do :)
