A few recent photos: First up a couple of black and white photos I took near the Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Education First building in black and white gives a nice high contrast photo, showing the geometric patterns of its glass ground floor atrium that folds back up into the building as it rises.

A photo of the northern bridge tower with the foot path bridge providing leading lines into the photo. The foot bridge rises up over the railroad tracks then plunges under the Zakim Bridge.

A white-breasted nuthatch female perched upside down, bending to look around. Nuthatches are niche feeders that move down trees from the top, giving them a different feeding angle from woodpeckers who move from bottom to top.

Continuing on the feeding theme, a male eastern bluebird is enjoying mealworm treat we put out; he posed nicely for a portrait.

Finally, a couple of birds with a red theme. This female northern cardinal stopped by our feeders for a quick snack, posing long enough for this photo.

A male red-bellied woodpecker, showing the orange-red belly from which its name is derived. Red bellies are at the top of our bird feeder pecking order, quite literally. Even aggressive blue jays don't mess with these woodpeckers; they know they will lose to a bird whose bill is designed to penetrate hard wood...

Springtime in Texas means wildflowers. Unfortunately, this year is not the best due to weather conditions over the winter with a lack of rain. I spent the day with a half dozen friends from our photo club just west of Houston. But we did eventually find some scattered around. Had lunch in a nice little BBQ spot in Brenham. Time spent taking pictures with friends is time well spent.

One of my friends who was along complained that several large fields had no interesting subjects like a horse or longhorn cow so I decided to just add something. How about a knight on his horse?

This is Clark. My first photo upload. I'm trying to make sure I'm getting the EXIF data included in my uploads. Using Canon Digital Professional 4 with very little editing experience.

One more trip down to the Gulf of MEXICO at High Island, Texas to photograph nesting birds at the Audubon managed bird refuge. Thankfully it was not too hot or humid and had a nice breeze which keeps the mosquitoes from being too much of a bother.

A few images from our recent visit to the gardens at Dunham Massey, Altrincham, Cheshire, England. (Images of the house itself will feature later).

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PL Elite/ ViewPoint/ Nik Collection, Adobe LrC/ PS with Tony Kuyper Panels and Topaz Labs Studio 2. As Karen used our Sony RX10 IV during this trip you’re stuck with shots taken by Phil).

Please Note: The opening phases of 'Operation Tech Refresh' have been successfully completed and 'Operation Catch-up' (aka ‘sorry, what day is it?') has begun - consequently, we are still a tad busy (but hopefully not for too much longer)… :)

Here are a few things I see while driving around Providence, always thinking I should stop some day to capture images.

Pollination a speciality

After four gloomy grey days, nice to have a bit of light in the autumn garden.

(Edited the post to change the bellbird pic, because I now prefer a somewhat differently processed version)

Got out to a local park today. Strangest thing I've ever seem. It's eye sticks out so much it created its own shadow and refection. It was in every shot of this type. At least this is what I think it is. It didn't show in the next series of shots.

It was a pleasant evening, so I took myself for a short ride up our local rail trail. It's fenced all the way but, for this small section, it was I who was fenced in with the local livestock. We got along well enough!
