Hi Ian,

Muntjac are always so cute (particularly when they hang around to pose) - and this one benefits from that pleasing warm late sun colour wash.

Beautiful reflections with the moorhen, with the ripples providing a natural framing effect.

Looks like a tranquil place to visit (though we wonder whether it was noisy overhead?).

Thank you for sharing... 🙂

Many thanks for the kind words. Generally it is very quiet excpet for the odd train passing by but little or no disturbance from the USAF nearby, certainly not in the evenings anyway.

Hickory Shad run is in full force on the Rappahannock River in Fredericksburg VA and is attracting the Ospreys.

It had been awhile since I went out looking specifically for birds. It was a nice day yesterday so my wife and I went out to the Billy Frank Jr. NWR.

The Pawtucket & Central Falls Train Station. Built in 1915. Closed in 1959. Although trains continue to pass underneath it, various funded plans for redevelopment have come and gone. A plan to demolish it was approved by the city of Central Falls, but ceased by a city of Pawtucket court order.

Excellent!
Thanks for sharing more old buildings. There’s nothing like them.
Back in the late 60s/early 70s, there was a group of 7 or 8 ladies that got mad because they were tearing down old buildings to put up new buildings that looked like something out of The Jetsons cartoon series. They formed the Historic Savannah Foundation and bought a few old buildings and renovated them. They also got some local ordinances passed to preserve the old structures and make sure that whatever new was constructed would fit in with the historic character of downtown. It changed things such that we have a wonderful downtown and it also proved to the Jetsons builders that there was a WHOLE lot more money in rehabilitating old houses and buildings.
I hope something similar happens in your city. Those buildings are worth far more rehabilitated than torn down. From what I see of your fine photos, they would make a great event space, or hotel, or whatever would work for the community. I hope they get rebuilt.

Thank you!

The city of Pawtucket, birthplace of the industrial revolution in the US, does has a historical preservation program. There are many old mill buildings that have been repurposed but others that are in a state of neglect and decay. I'm sure the issue is the funding required to restore and renovate these old buildings.

In the coming months, the focus of my photographic efforts will be to showcase these old structures. More to follow.

Glad to hear they have a preservation program. Money is always the problem.
Keep the photos coming. I look forward to them.
