Any R System images can be posted. If you would like to say something about the subject, settings, or processing, that will be very welcome.

Remember, you don't have to only post things you took this month - sometimes people don't have time to process/ edit images straight away. (Think of it more as an ‘images I’d like to post here this month’ sort of thing). Images taken with non-R System lenses are also very welcome.

Images posted on this thread will also be available to view in the dedicated Monthly R System Images Gallery.

Commenting on people’s posts is encouraged as it keeps everyone interested and coming back. (Please be considerate, thoughtful and constructive).

We aim to provide feedback - but we're away for part of each month and busy with ‘life stuff’. The lack of a comment from us is not a sign of disfavour!

Finally, please post in accordance with the RF Shooters Community Guidelines.

Over here we call them Spur-winged plovers, and they're at least as swoopy as magpies if you get too close to a nest...

Firstly. I'not surprised at the alternate vernacular.

Plenty of videos on YouTube for skuas and arctic terns being unhappy with humans.

It looked lonely as I was wandering around looking for wildlife. I liked dandelions when I owned a house. Grew in my yard with no effort on my part

Reminds me of what my wife's sister who has a horse says. "Looks like it was rode hard and put away wet".

Could be part of the normal moulting cycle. July-August is prime time for this for northern cardinals (apparently).

It could also be caused by mites and/or lice. I once had a robin (the UK type) that inhabited the garden of a property I lived at. By the time summer was over it was as bald as the proverbial coot. All feathers gone, and no new replacements apparent. New feathers would eventually grow and it'd look like all the other robins for a period. Then the cycle would repeat. After a few years it wasn't seen again, so very likely lived a typical (adult) robin lifetime.

In Post #6 of August's images: "Today" = Tuesday.

We've now reached the anticipated "Thereafter": all hatched and two dispatched.

  — 0 eggs (all hatched) + 2 chicks (4 minus 2) + 2 vigilant parents

Food for thought… and for a pair of watchful Pied Butcherbirds.

We’re back! A fun Frank-Fest involving lots of visits (a mix of reprises/ new stuff), with 148 road/ gravel miles cycled (5,011 feet climbed) and 82 miles walked (1,850 feet climbed). Bruises - a fair few, but then again - too few to mention. In summary, we really need a holiday!

On a separate note, some of you may already know that over the last year we’ve been supporting a close relative who was suddenly struck down by a very serious illness. This now involves us facilitating their home sale/ move into care, so we’re going to be a bit busy for a good while. During this period our responses on here will be minimal - as usual, the lack of a comment from us is not a sign of disfavour! Normal service will resume (eventually), but in the meantime please bear with us - ’tis life…
