Dean,
The Cancun Lilly is first rate. Very well done.
I also like the red flower against the black background.
Whatever it is you’re doing, keep doing it.
Thank you very kindly Dale.

I used natural shade for the background on the Fuchsia...no props or background editing needed. I am still trying to get comfortable with focus stacking.

Art,
The only negative thing I can say is that the bird is a better fisherman than I am....Great photo.

Hi Bryan,

A wonderfully composed and controlled shot which evokes fond memories of pleasant evenings spent relaxing on various (warm) foreign shores.

(All we need now are 2 glasses of the 7-year old rum with ice - cheers!).

Thank you for sharing... 🙂

Andrea,
Beautiful shot-the building in the distance is perfect. Well done.

Phil and Karen,
Superb as always. I can identify with the bear. It doesn’t matter where you are, just take a nap.

These images were processed with heavy doses of DXO Photolab 9 Smart Lighting and ClearView Plus to remedy the harsh midday sun and hazy sky.

The Anthony Mills, built in 1873 in the Italianate architectural style, was the largest building in Rhode Island at that time. It produced textiles including narrow fabric, using Italian knitting machines and Italian and American needle looms. In 2012, the main mill was renovated into luxury loft apartments.

Walter,
These photos are superb. Well done.
I REALLY like the architectural detail on the building in the first photo. This was an industrial building, and they still took the time to add decorative details on the building. That’s ahead of its time. If you look at what passes for an industrial building these days, it’s just a box with holes in it, mostly. There are some forward thinking industrial architects out there, but not many.
The sunstars are a great effect as well.

This time, a rose from our garden instead of wild roses from the end of the street.

Solid colors in plants are extremely difficult to capture. We had Intense RED poppies with a smoky Black center that I gave up on try to photograph. I just couldn't do them justice. Great job.

I agree, red and magenta are particularly difficult, Dean. If you like, take a look at the following article where I explain a similar process

Another reminder of the leadership role Rhode Island played in the Industrial Revolution. Nice collection.

Dale,
I really like your mix of contextual shots - street scenes, buildings, along with close ups of interesting details. Looking forward to seeing more.

Walter,
Thanks. It was a very enjoyable day. The weather was perfect, the humidity was low, and I got lucky with a few of those. I have a few more detail shots in my stash, and I’ll post them soon.

I’m struck by how similar our circumstances are. Your city apparently has the same type of historic buildings and architecture that we do. Please keep your photos coming as well. I thoroughly enjoy them.

Dale,
A lot of the early history of the US takes place along the east coast. So, both of us are fortunate to live in areas that are rich in old structures. In Rhode Island, Providence was incorporated as a city in 1636, with several other well known cities incorporated before 1680.

It's been a busy spell, but more photos will come.
Cheers!
