These pictures brought back some lovely memories. Back when I was still a boy (60 odd years ago) and still living in England, my grandparents ran the pub in the nearby village of Ashendon. When visiting them on school hols, we visited Waddesdon Manor a number of times.

As promised, images of the interior at Waddesdon, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England (part 1 of 3). We got in there late, so it was busy and it was blisteringly sunny and bright - that said, the photographic challenges were fun and the subject matter was generally of the totally mind-blowing variety.

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PL E/ ViewPoint, Adobe LrC/ PS with Tony Kuyper Panels and Topaz Labs Studio. Compilations feature Karen - R7 and Phil - R5 II).

You can find out more about Waddesdon by clicking Here.

Superb as always. Particularly liked the crockery chandelier. Tell Karen she did good.
Hi Dale,

Cheers - message passed on! :)

(When we visit places like this Karen excels at doing the 'getting in close on interesting items, angles and textures' thing, while I do the easy stuff).

Brockville train tunnel completed in 1860 is now a tourist attraction. Lighting continually is changing.

Re: "2. Get stuffed..."

Did you get the opportunity to pick up any of tableware to see what manfacturer's mark was on the base?

An old schoolfriend's other half would always do that when eating out (in hospitality management and thought it a fair initial base for guiding the quality assessment of the establishment).

Hi Roy,

Unfortunately, 'no' - there was a rope keeping visitors well away from the table (which mysteriously disappeared during processing in Photoshop... 👀). There was a (friendly and informative) room guide keeping an eye on proceedings, but we only exchanged pleasantries.

You may be able to glean more by Clicking Here, but note the 'White Drawing Room' mentioned in item #10 is the one featured in our first interior post.

I don’t think I’ll ever get “wowed-out” from your and Karen’s photos. Another superb collection.

I’ll have to say that as I was looking at them, I kept wondering about the person that had to dust all that stuff. Must be a full time job. Once you get to the end of it, it’s time to start over again.

Hi Dale,

Cheers - very much appreciated! :)

We occasionally touch on cleaning tactics when chit-chatting to room guides and the methodology varies greatly - some are ongoing/ systematic (more typically with the still used/ lived in properties), others are more sporadic on a needs/ quiet-times basis, and some opt for 'whenever we get round to it'.

I'm not sure what happens here, but there wasn't any dust apparent. (I vaguely recall one of the guides we spoke to said it was 'a continuous process')...
