Nice capture and subsequent edit Phil, the detail is impressive. Hope the wine went down well :)
Hi Nick,

Cheers - much appreciated!

And yes it did - cheers… :)

Breeding Plumage…

Bar-tailed Godwit in Breeding Plumage : Moreton Bay, QLD, AU

Bar-tailed Godwit : Limosa lapponica

A muddy-footed male Bar-tailed Godwit in fancy dress is clearly a bird ready to leave Queensland shores and head for the far north of the Pacific Ocean: breeding time approaches!

Somehow, I botched this shoot: the first time I've taken photos in JPEG on the R5. I've no idea how the setting was changed.

Bar-tailed Godwit : Limosa lapponica

A female Bar-tailed Godwit takes flight.

In my opinion there are far too few photos of this species that explain how it gains its common name! Most of all, I like seeing the wonderful structure and shape of godwits' wings.

  • manual aperture & speed; auto ISO

Blue Tit portrait, late afternoon sunshine hit our lounge window and threw reflected light back into the bird.
Almost like I have used flash, having the ability to move the perches around helps.

Thats a fine shot even for a jpeg ;)

More images from our visit (in February) to Chester Zoo, Cheshire, England. (Note - the compilations are a mixture of R7 - Karen and R5 - Phil).

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PhotoLab Elite, Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop with Tony Kuyper TK-9 Panels and Topaz Labs Photo AI).

Wonderful set of shots, Folks. The first photo is a manicurist's deepest nightmare, love the details and colors of the frogs, and our younger daughter (who loves the color orange and tigers) appreciated the last photo, where you captured their gazes perfectly. Although I think they are gazing at their next potential meal...

Hi David,

A fabulous image of a beautiful looking creature - the perfect pose, with great feather detail and touches of catch-light!

(The R5's jpeg engine was well up to the task and has done you proud here).

Thank you for sharing... :)
