Went out to a local park a couple of days ago and got some bird shots - all far away, some very far. I used Topaz Sharpen on several to help out.

Nice and clear - have you tried the extenders? I was very impressed with both for wildlife handheld

Thank you. No, have not tried the extenders. I don't doubt the extenders work well. However, things I have heard lead me to believe that I can get just as good or better results cropping than using a 1.4x, with the 100-500mm. The extenders seem to work at their best with the big whites, and I don't have one of those.
