Thanks. Often, yes, I do use the 100 to 500 (often with the 1.4 extender on) for macro but only because I set out to shoot birds primarily. The macro shots are just something I'll take when something interesting presents itself or there are a lack of birds that day. The lens works out well for that.

Yep, that's what I do too. The RF 100-500 is such a versatile lens, it is useful for small subjects.

Thanks. This one just showed up on our front doorstep. You can find them in trees eating sap and some can actually fetch a hefty sum, depending on the size. I probably should have measured it to see if it was worth anything. I just put it back in a tree nearby.

Robber fly - Dioctria sp, eyeball-to-eyeball with its victim.

Milkweed beetle Tetraopes. Note its antenna splits its eye.

Milkweed Bug, Lygaeus kalmii. Similar colors to the milkweed beetle but a different insect order.
