Ghost Tiger Beetles at the Pinhey 2 sand dune site, Ottawa. They are well camouflaged and can take high sand temperatures. These bugs are small and very hard to spot.

Nice series of shots! I like the front perspective of the grasshopper. The weevil looks very small.
Thank you. The weevil was really small...barely noticed it. I've been paranoid about ticks lately (nasty disease these guys are carrying with a high fatality rate, spreading from western Japan over the past few years), so have been taking a second look at anything small and and black.
 
Welcome to the forum, Marc. Very nice pics. I don't think I have ever seen a bug like that gray grasshopper. Very interesting.

The welcome is appreciated Archibald. That grasshopper was found while I was taking a night hike in the Costa Rican rain forest. After taking a couple frames I looked directly above me and found these guys just hanging out.... literally.

That is cool. You don't see bats that often.
