Week 1. A little grey wagtail hunting for grubs on a dry weir.

1/2500 sec sure stopped the action for you. I can't figure out what he is attempting to do by lifting his foot. He sure is a cute bird!

Week 2 : Echos of the Past
Remnants of past eras of homesteading on the prairies in Canada have remained for decades but are now deteriorating at an increased rate. Most collapse soon after they get to this stage and then vanish, erasing their existence, so future generations do not have them as a reminder of their history.

Week 2 — Taken March 16, 2021 at St. Marks NWR — Great Egret in focus past the tall grasses. I switched my RF 100-500 lens to Manual Focus with Focus Peaking on to keep the autofocus system from trying to focus on the tall grasses instead of the bird. Then I rotated the focus ring until the egret was in focus and the grasses were out of focus.

Week 2. Certainly not the best photo I have ever taken, but it was pissing down with rain so i decided to have a couch potato afternoon and played around with using my phone to trigger the R6. It worked really well except I see a fair bit of distortion around the human models midriff. Ali looks lovely though. Rubbish or not its Week 2/52

Week 4 - Gnarled Old Cottonwood Tree - Early spring is brown here.
In a program produced by our local TV station it was explained that these Plains Cottonwood trees are native treasures, possibly being the most important trees in Medicine Hat.
“While the trees have an average life of between 70 and 100 years, the ones at Police Point Park are between 200 and 300 years old according to park interpreter Marty Drut.”
“We’re not certain why, but they are just really great at being able to survive. They even have like hollow spots in them. Parts of them will die off and other parts will keep growing.” Drut said. “And then the hollow spots will also provide habitat for all kinds of wildlife.”

Week 1. Not the best conditions to showcase the camera, dark, windy, noisy.. all part of the fun. Quite liked this shot from a dyno testing session this morning.

It's like the Ugly Tree joke come to life! 😁
I can understand what you mean. We have never thought of them that way though, having seen them in person. They have character and have been declared Heritage Trees here. I added an explanation in the comments at the top. They are very old and have survived for hundreds of years providing homes for wildlife.
