Week 12 - This tiny little Downy Woodpecker usually hops, spiraling up tree trunks hunting for bugs. Today he is a bit of an acrobat, hanging upside down from one foot as he forages. I had to be quick to photograph him.

It is always a treat to see Blue Herons in their nests. So exotic looking. The lighting sets it off so nicely too.

Late comer to the thread, but absolutely love the idea. I often struggle for ideas, but just getting out and taking the picture will be a great thing. The weather in the West Midlands is awful at the moment, so I will start this next week when hopefully we will have a little sunshine.

Week 11 and the ducklings are already a week older. There were 7 last week and there are still 7 this week. So luckily the heron hasn't snatched any. There are only 5 in this picture, it's hard to get them all together!

They are very cute. I have seen a Blue Heron capture a merganzer duckling and it was very sad.

Juvenile Starling this morning in my back garden. Quite a heavy crop, taken with R6, Tamron 70-300 telemacro. Can't wait for my Sigma 150-600 to arrive.

Week 14 - Wilson's Phalarope - It is always fun to photograph a pair of birds. It is challenging to get two fast moving birds in focus at the same time. This species is quite unique in that the female is brighter and larger.
