All caught up after a short break to Portmeirion, North Wales (a trip in our camper van 'Frank'). Mediocre weather, but images to appear at some point.

In the meantime, some re-edits (by Phil) of shots (by Karen) from a recent visit to Chester Zoo, Chester, England.

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PhotoLab Elite/ Nik Collection, Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop with TK-9 Panels and Topaz Labs Studio 2).

Hi Don,

Cheers - much appreciated!

Although these are 'creative edits', I didn't pop this creature very much at all - it's naturally colourful.

Processed some more Elk images taken in Southwest Virginia near Grundy VA, close to the Kentucky border with Virginia.

We have a few Icelandic communities north of our city. One is called Gimli located on lake Winnipeg. Full of Vikings :) Further north is Hecla Island where we spent a some time for our 40th. Today cars use the causeway to get across. This is what remains of the ramp to the Ferry that was shut down long ago. About 60 years ago mom, dad and I drove up that ramp. I have very vague memories of it

Hi Only RF,

Terrific shot (perfect for B&W!) with the fascinating background information adding to the interest.

(And we think nostalgia is what it used to be... :)).

Pied Stilt : Nudgee Wetlands, Brisbane

Pied Stilt : Himantopus leucocephalus
Nudgee Wetlands, Brisbane

Yesterday, as I clattered my way across the boardwalk spanning the Nudgee Wetlands, I spied a flock of Pied Stilts idling away the morning.

I parked my ebike on the far side of the boardwalk and walked back with my R5, RF 100–500 and 1.4 extender.

It was quite pleasant sitting on the planks with legs dangling almost to the water and elbows steadied on the rails. All I had to do was wait for some action. (A vacuum flask of hot chocolate and a few Ouma rusks were beside me.)

Nothing happened: surely some bird would feel peckish! Maybe they'd fed already: 6:30 am was clearly siesta time.

Hi David,

Sounds like a pleasant way to start the day, with your efforts well rewarded!

Our day started here with a walk in the 'Hartshill Wetlands', where the temptation to sit round and get a thorough drenching was somewhat lacking...

(We did spot a couple of toads who seemed to be enjoying the conditions).

Hi Jonathan,

Cheers - much appreciated! We had pretty grim weather for most of our trip, but there's always a positive and the conditions leant themselves to B&W.

The signature (our silhouettes plus some text) is a Photoshop 'brush', meaning we can easily change the size, colour and opacity/ blend mode etc...

You can see how to create a brush signature/ watermark in this tutorial by Anthony Morganti.

This is my first time posting in the gallery, I hope you like the photos which I've taken in the span of the last few weeks. I love how R6 Mark II just does what I ask of it... amazing product of engineering.

Having an enjoyable trip to Provence. We are staying in a house in the small village of Sablet and venturing out each day. The markets in various towns and villages are a lot of fun to experience. Enjoying the good locally produced food and of course, the wine

Hi Chris,

A wonderful collection of images showcasing your idyllic sounding vacation (and your photographic talents!).

It's very difficult for us to pick a favourite - the night time street scene is certainly evocative, but then we get to the wines (and those burgers!)... :)

Great photos, and the burger looks like it could choke a horse!

Just got power back after 48 hours, following a bit of wind in the district (gusts to 200 kmh). Before it really got going, I thought I ought to memorialise my favourite flowering cherry because I suspected its blossom would be off to the next parish...

As it happens, it survived very well. Can't say the same for some of our other trees - thankfully none blew over, but lots of branches have broken off. Tidying up and chainsawing the big stuff is going to take a while...

Hi Gareth,

Crikey - a 'bit of wind' eh? 😮

We're very pleased to hear you managed to get through it with only relatively minor angst and this absolutely beautiful scene persists for us all to enjoy.
