Hi Cemal,

That colour combination really pops, grabbing the viewers attention - and the closer they are drawn in, the more detail they will find.

Well spotted... :)

Thank you P&K. The colors being complimentary colors, they benefit from simultaneous contrast as Chevreul explained.

Cemal, great photo, and love the reflection.

Thank you, Mike. As much of the leaves had fallen off the trees, the reflections were more interesting. I will post a few more, stay tuned.

Hi Cemal,

An engrossing blend of scintillating colours and attention seeking reflections - plenty here to draw the viewer into the scene to enjoy nature's wonders.

Hi David,

A cracking capture all-round - great composition, subject pose/ movement, control of light, fine detail, eye-pop - and those fabulous reflections!

Thank you for sharing... :)

The lighting is nice.

How I wish Canon would let us record the compass direction of our shots. I'll 'guess' that I was facing south with the sun coming in from NE.

The GPS data of bird photos is included in the metadata but direction is always straight up or straight down, depending on how my iPhone was stowed in my zippered back pocket!

I've added location and time below the photo.

Hi Cemal,

Once again, the colours and lighting are very pleasing to the eye - we seem to have missed the 'carpet of shapes and colours' phase out in our local woods this time round and gone straight to sludge. (November sometimes brings 'angel beam' mornings, so we're clinging on to that hope... :) ).

Anyway, enough about central England - these images will lift any spirits, so thank you for sharing!

Thank you, P&K. I may post some reflection photographs but small sizes do not show the intricate details. I'll think about that.

Our final images for this month, captured during a recent visit to Chester Zoo, Chester, England.

Phil and Karen, great photos and presented really well. I never knew Jaguars had an underlying Leopard colour. I always thought they were jet black.

Hi Kerro,

Cheers - appreciated!

The previous female Jaguar they had also shared this colour. You can read a little more about Inka by clicking Here.

Great video Phil. They certainly have a presence about them.

Hi Kerro,

The Jaguar enclosure at Chester Zoo is a great feature, with indoor and outdoor viewing opportunities (feeding times are 'interesting' if you catch one!).

As mentioned, I think they're still working on developing the 'strong and meaningful bond' between Inka and Napo... :)

Lately it seems that fall colors are not what I remember - more brown than anything else, and not enough red. Perhaps we're losing our maple trees. Anyway, I shot this yesterday as the temps were non-characteristic warm for late October in southern New York State. I like the reflection, but I'm not sure if there is anything else of interest. I'm open to your input and criticism, just be kind! Thanks.

A little reflection, in more ways than one! Stepstone Falls, Rhode Island. There is much detail in the small areas of the ripples but hard to see in small sizes. Some kind of a Rorschach test, you can see many things in these random shapes created by nature dripping its colors on water.

Hi Mike,

Bear in mind with any feedback we provide that, basically, we're just a pair of enthusiastic hobbyist photographers. (And, we're always kind! :) ).

For us, the charms of this image lie in the colours, textures and achingly beautiful reflections. The dominant leading line created by the crescendo of trees and their watery doubles draws the viewer ever inwards. What would (arguably) make this even better than it already is - and we've said this many times for our own shots - is a child hanging from a colourful hot air balloon floating past, ideally over on the right hand side - and quite low down (aka 'foreground interest').

In terms of processing, maybe try to pop the trees/ reflections with some zingy settings + 'intersect with colour range'? We'd also consider trying this in 16:9 format - perhaps as the background shot for a compilation. (Then you could possibly insert a shot of said hapless balloonist - if you can find a volunteer!).

Hi Cemal,

Ah, we're quite partial to frame filling watery shapes/ textures/ colours - they yield a wealth of interest and fascination for the viewer (as is the case here).

Whether still or animated, each moment is unique - never to be repeated.

P&K

Thanks for the feedback, Phil. I too felt that the trees could use a little pick-me-up, and possibly the right-hand side - that portion of the image seems a little washed-out. I'll also play with aspect and try the 16:9.

Now, does anyone know of a child willing to hang from a helium balloon??
