I do not know but things do not look right to me in this article...

The Canon R7 in my experience was a camera that produced a lot of noise even at the lower ISO. Now I do not know how come increasing the ISO Max Limit to 204800 would benefit this camera.

Can one of the existent owners confirm this news (the new ISO limit) and if the new firmware helped with the noise? I'm interested on knowing if Canon is doing something to remediate the complains on this camera.

The linked article (from Canon.com.cn) says via Apple translation:
Through ISO expansion firmware upgrade, the light sensitivity of ISO 204800 makes the EOS R7 have stronger shooting in extremely low light conditions. Ability, can capture more details, bringing more cost-effective solutions to data recording and monitoring, industrial detection, medical imaging and other fields.

It’s not in the current /recent firmware, and I see no suggestion in this blurb that noise at any existing ISO is reduced.

I seen that a few days ago. Title says "just got" and there has not been a FW update since Oct 8 which was 1.6.0. Expanded is still 51200. That blog is 3 days old and it said the same thing when it was 11 hours old. Canon Asia is about a day ahead for FW, etc updates. It was 1.6.0 a few days ago and is the same today.

One of the things that I did not like from the R7 was the amount of noise. Any updates in the firmware that may help with that is really highly appreciated and I'm curious to see if that happens.

Yes it is similar to my 7D and 7D2. Light hungry sensors. It would be nice if it happened.

I saw some speculation (and this was borne out by my reading of the Canon article) that this could be a paid firmware update.

Definitely needs clarifying. Of no real interest unless it brings down noise in the 800-6400 ISO range.
