So I'm going on a Alaska photoshoot and it is recommended to have two body's. So my current camera is a Canon EOS RP. I'm trying to decide do I get another RP, pretty reasonable or do I get a Canon EOS R instead which have become reasonable? I was thinking about getting an R6 but it is a tad out of my budget. Thoughts?

I have an R and an RP. If you like the RP, you'll love the R.

I've had my R for a little over 2 years and only picked up the RP as a secondary camera recently. They both take great photos, but the overall experience is more polished on the R. The biggest difference to me is the quality of the EVF. Being accustomed to the R, the RP viewfinder felt like a big step down. Also I had heard how bad the AF was in 4k on the RP, but didn't realize how completely trash it really is. So if you do any sort of video, the R will also be a big step up.

I'd 100% recommend the R over a second RP. They've come down in price quite a bit, and I think you'll have no problem switching to that as your main and using the RP as a secondary. I've been really enjoying taking my ROV Pro slider out and throwing the RP on that for time-lapses while I shoot on the R.

Well thanks for the advice I picked up a "R" Body and get it tomorrow. Lots of people selling them now that the R5 is out.
