The best thing I did after getting DaVinci Resolve was to get a used Speed Editor off EBay. The listing said "no software," but it came with a "software activation" key that enabled the Studio version.

I just got my new "Geometrical" Pocket Tripod Pro V2 and a Remote bluetooth shutter release. The pocket tripod is a handy little credit card-sized foldable tripod for smart phones. I'm using it with my iPhone 17 ProMax (Pictured here with my wife's iPhone 17). Just a handy little device to have in your wallet. (About as thick as 2 credit cards). The shutter release from the same company came with a battery installed, plus one extra battery.

After considering several different vintage lenses, I pulled the trigger on a refurbished EF-mount Helios 44m-4 from Ukraine. I paid a bit more, but I wanted a Grade A lens and this one looks totally legit. The pre-tariff total was $107, I *think* the import fee is 17%, and there may be a shipping fee.

I bought a Flashpoint R2 flash trigger for my Canons, to drive a R2 Panasonic flash as a slave.
Wasn't sure if it would work, Canon driving Panasonic, but so far seems okay.
I got a chuckle when the Pany flash told me I was using a Canon camera.

Join me, vicariously, on a photographic snipe hunt: one affordable 85mm f/1.2 that fits my Fuji GFX and Canon R5m2.

Now that I have the Fujifilm GFX 100s, I've been hunting for vintage lenses, and the latest quest was for an 85mm f/1.2 that I could adapt to the Fuji and the Canon. Since I already have the EF-RF adapter, the obvious choice was the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 L II. Lens in excellent condition: $900. EF-GF autofocus adapter: $500. Total cost: $1400 plus tax.

Ouch. I couldn't justify that, especially since I just got the RF 45mm f/1.2 from B&H and my wife just booked us a Norwegian fjord cruise in June.

So down the rabbit hole I went.

Do I really need f/1.2? Reviewers unanimously agree that manual focus is notoriously difficult on a GFX with a 1.2 lens. So it seemed silly to buy one when I'm not even sure I'd like using it.

It took me two days to discover that all of these used lenses will cover the larger GFX sensor:

I was particularly smitten by the Minolta 90mm, the Schneider-Kreuznach and the Zeiss. All required different adapters.

After one final search at MPB, I accidentally found a Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC in Sony A mount.

Sony A mount? Is that the same as Sony Alpha? I don't know. I've never owned a Sony.

But ... the lens was $96 in Good condition, and Kipon sells a Sony A to Fuji G adapter for $116. So they're both on the way to me now.

Will I like the result? It was worth $236 to find out.

The Rokinon 85mm lens has shipped, and I discovered that Fotodiox sells a Sony A to EOS R adapter for $75. So I can report that for about $300 total I now have an affordable 85mm f/1.4 that I can adapt to the GFX and the R5m2.

Congrats on the find!

I wish there were more adapters for the Canon RF and Fuji GF platforms.

For my Nikon Z8, I have both the Megadap ETZ21 PRO+ and the Boryoza GF-NZ adapters. So I can use any of my Sony FE or Fuji GF lenses on my Z8! Schweeet! I have yet to find any lens that doesn't work properly with these adapters.

The original lens cap for my Pentax 645 35mm lens is spring loaded and is constantly flying off in various directions if I bump it against anything. So I got a Kase 77mm "inlaid ring" and a magnetic cap ($32 used from Amazon). The ring screws in flush with the filter threads using the included plastic tool, and the cap is much more secure now. I might replace all my lens caps with this combo, but I'll wait until B&H gets them in stock.

Hey, that's pretty clever!

I've recently acquired a pair of Laowa 10mm lenses for my Z8 and A1II (still considering if I need 10mm for my R5II - its manual focus and I'm lazy, but that's another story...). I've noticed that the Laowa lens caps have a weak grip. They are also a wee bit fidgety to get clamped into place and then they don't seem all that committed to staying in place. Hmph.

Will these work with a filter in place on the lens? I'll do some digging....

I'm sure those would work if the existing filter has female threads for stacking filters. The magnetic ring itself does not have those threads, but Kase also makes a magnetic adapter ring kit for non-magnetic filters.

I bought a Kase magnetic filter kit that includes an inlaid ring and lens cap. I'm a little disappointed in the holding power of the cap. The magnet is plenty strong enough for holding filters while they're actively in use, but banging the lens around, in and out of bags, places where you'd want a lens cap, the magnetic cap falls off easier than my Canon spring caps.

The Kase magnetic filters are awesome, though. Screw in filters, square filters and the like were such a pain to use that I'd just do without most of the time. Now it's so easy to pop a filter on and off that I'm much more likely to use one.

I bought a rear 77mm filter cap and added an inlaid ring to that. Now, instead of using the Kase case to hold the filters, I just sandwich them between that rear cap and a magnetic front cap. That makes a little stack that fits in a pocket nicely. Having them handy makes it even more likely they'll get used.

I have the Mindshift version of this bag and love it. It is by far the best backpack I have ever used. It can accommodate my gripped R6 mark II with attached lens (even 70-200 f2.8 attached) plus 2-3 other lenses and a boatload of little stuff like cleaning kit, batteries etc. And it is extremely comfortable.

I have the Mindshift version of this bag and love it. It is by far the best backpack I have ever used. It can accommodate my gripped R6 mark II with attached lens (even 70-200 f2.8 attached) plus 2-3 other lenses and a boatload of little stuff like cleaning kit, batteries etc. And it is extremely comfortable.

My 'normal' bag is the Mindshift 40L and weights in full loaded at about 35 lbs. I am forcing myself not to bring everything.
