Your Photo of the Week

How the weeks get by me... Week 23
Another from Costa Rica, a pair of wild macaws (one red one green) on a tree stump. The people at this farm feed the macaws and provide nesting material for them. They also have planted and let grow the trees they like to nest in (they are very dense hardwood trees and in the past they have cut down great swaths of them which, along with the illegal trade in these birds, has caused them to be highly endangered)

What a fantastic photograph! The colors, the texture, the birds, the perch and the background are all fantastic!

Been busy fitting a new Kitchen, managed to get out this evening to a sunflower field, took an old picture frame with me. A favourite below.
That's a great idea! Nicely done!
How is the kitchen reno coming along?

Nearly there Hali. Been putting it off for a long while, then the estate agent advised to sort it to get the best price, so greed got the better of me! Quite a dark room so gone white with loads of lights! A “during“ and “nearly finished“ below.

Wow, that's a great makeover! Light and airy now. I love the under the cabinet floor lighting.

Nice work Mike, it looks great. Good luck with the sale!

Week 25. Sloth and Baby, from a wild animal sanctuary outside of San Jose, Costa Rica. I could have used a deeper dof to get the baby in better focus, didn't realize it until I downloaded the image. The R5 handled those high ISO's with little problem whilst I was in CR, nothing a bit of PureRaw or Denoise AI couldn't handle.

Beautiful photo Hali. It would of been interesting to see the shot with a little more depth of field but I don't think it hurts the photo at all. Would love to see these beautiful creatures myself one day.

Thank you, Tim. I agree. I was so concerned about blurring the background that I didn't compensate for the difference in space between the mom and baby.

A lovely young sparrowhawk waiting for breakfast in our garden. This one is still learning how to hunt, sadly they are not the best at it so far but they make up for this with persistence. Not sure if they are male or female, it's rather hard to tell at this age. I asked in a bird of prey ID group and no one was very sure.

That's beautiful, Timothy! I love that stare it is giving you and the smooth clean background really emphasizes the great detail in the feathers.

This is just fabulous! I took a look at the virtual tour and the detail is just incredible. Do you mind me asking 1. how long it took to shoot 2. I assume you were using a panhead on your tripod? and 3. how long did it take to process?

Thanks Hali. They are definitely checking me out! There's a nice grassy meadow in the background that just melts away at this distance. Thankfully no sheep photo bombing this time as they show up as big white blobs!

It's pretty grim here today but thought I'd grab a quick shot of one of our goldfinches in the garden. They are feeding like crazy right now, often about 15 of them waiting for their turn on the feeder.

I love gold finches Tim definitely one of the prettiest members of the British Finches

They are certainly pretty little birds Rob, we are lucky to have them in the garden. Although they go through the sunflower hearts like there's no tomorrow! But I guess for them there is no tomorrow if they don't eat enough. They had their last brood of the year just a couple of weeks back and appear to still be feeding them.
