A morning in our backyard:
This female eastern bluebird posed nicely near our feeders.
20230409_3294.jpg

This female white-breasted nuthatch looking down, unhappy with the competition at the feeder.
20230409_3574.jpg

A mammal competitor, thwarted by a double baffle system on the feeder pole...

Then there is this immature Cooper's hawk, viewing our entire back yard as its feeder. It was not successful at catching dinner this morning

Hi Don,

You have a very interesting back yard! :)

A terrific set of images of wonderful creatures - a difficult choice, but the shot of the hawk (just) takes it for us.

Thank you for sharing...

A B&W re-edit - from my earlier post of the church at Ashby-de-la-Zouch Castle (as suggested by Ron!).

(Re-edited using: DxO Nik Collection, Adobe Photoshop and Topaz Labs Studio 2).

Hi Art,

It's great to see you here - welcome!

And what a spectacular image of a beautiful creature to open your posts with - a fantastic capture. :)

PS. One Tip - if we may? When you Upload your images, if you click on Insert and choose 'Full Image' users will get to see the full image without having to click on the Thumbnail. (You can also Edit a post, to do this retrospectively).

Adobe have just released Lightroom Classic v12.3 which, amongst other things, introduces 'Denoise' AI noise reduction. (Note this currently only works on raw files).

I've already made a post showing my first test (a comparison vs DxO DeepPRIME XD) in the Editing/ Post-Production forum, but here are my follow-up tests and you know what? - it's not at all bad fresh out of the wrapping... 😮

Phil

Re-edits in Lightroom Classic, Denoise set to 75% strength. (Shots taken at Marwell Zoo, Hampshire, England).

This morning's coffee time re-edit - the exquisite 60 foot tall St Nectan’s Kieve Waterfall, St Nectan's Glen, Trethevy, near Tintagel, North Cornwall, England.

Although water levels were relatively low, this didn't stop it raining on us while we were walking there and back and for most of the time during our visit... 😂

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PhotoLab Elite/ Nick Collection, Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop and Topaz Labs Studio 2).

Lovely … what about darkening the top left and bottom right …to draw the viewer into the subject, just a thought
Hi Tui,

Cheers - pleased you like it - and thanks for the feedback/ idea.

I actually darkened the entire top edge in Nik (but only VERY slightly) and also applied a vignette. all-round in Lr (again VERY slight) - it seems I may have underdone the slightly-ness... 😂

(I will revisit the image later today with this aspect in mind (y)).

I’m having trouble navigating! Sorry …
I was actually replying to this post - A tauhou or waxeye/silver eye (Zosterops lateralis) enjoying a Mrs Williams fig, yesterday. Nothing left of the fig this morning…..
I‘ll just lurk for a while :)

I often use a gentle vignette to do that, but in this case I like the textures and shapes in the fig leaves… But I might have a play later.

Hi Tui,

And I'm having trouble reading - as the thread originator I get notifications of 'a reply to my thread' (not my post) - and I'm too quick to reply so, also sorry!

Having said that, I've just tried your idea with my waterfall shot and it kind-of works... :D

I think the waterfall shot is great as it is .. the light coming in from top left and bottom right is perfect! Or maybe a tiny bit of darkness on the very bottom right … and possibly straighten the bottom of the waterfall?
It’s so easy to critique other people’s images … haha

Hi Tui,

As someone once said - and it may have been me - an edit is never finished, you just stop fiddling around with it... :D

(I must have 3-4 versions of this image, but I do like this morning's coffee time effort - which was also fuelled by one of Karen's inspirational marmalade tarts!).

Yes, exactly!
So many times I look aghast at an image I worked on the previous day thinking it was ok … but I do really enjoy the ‘fiddling’.
I used to spend ages in the darkroom now I’m doing the same thing on the computer. Not sure if its any healthier though

Pictures, or it didn't happen... ;-)
…like two guilty children with the remnants of stolen treats left smudged on their faces, there are no tarts left.

However, a few cinnamon cookies remain (as does the rest of Karen’s homemade marmalade jam!)… 🧑‍🍳 👨‍🍳

(For now… :D ).

Hi Tui,

When we saw your fabulous images elsewhere on the site we were longing to encourage you to post them into the monthly thread (but didn’t want to come across as too pushy - plus, you’re free to post them wherever you wish!), so we’re absolutely delighted to wake up and find them here.

Thank you for sharing - keep up the great work! :)
