We hope you enjoy creating memorable images this month!

Have fun, but stay safe and well…

Any R System images (stills or movies) can be posted. If you would like to say something about the subject, settings, or processing, that would be very welcome.

Remember, you don't have to only post things you took this month - sometimes people don't get around to processing/ editing images straight after shooting. (Think of it more as an ‘images I’d like to post here this month’ thing). Images taken with non-R System lenses are also very welcome as this adds to the interest.

Images posted on this thread will be available to view in a dedicated Monthly R System Images Gallery, which can be found Here.

Commenting on other people’s posts is encouraged as it keeps everyone interested and coming back. (But please be considerate, thoughtful and constructive).

We aim to provide feedback - but note we are away for part of each month and busy with ‘life stuff’. The lack of a comment from us is not a sign of disfavour!

Finally, please post in accordance with the RF Shooters Community Guidelines.

Thank you!

1. When you arrive at the jaguar experience and the lady 'having a chat' with a fascinated and spellbound Inka turns out to be her keeper from when she was born and raised at The Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent, England. (You can read about that by clicking Here).

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your very kind feedback - appreciated!

There's another set from Chester Zoo lined up for later this month - so stay tuned... :)

Waterfall in the Rockway Conservation Area near St Catherine’s, ON about a half hour from Niagara Falls. Used a 10 stop ND filter for a 30 second exposure because my 5 second exposure with the 6 stop just wasn’t long enough. 😁

A nice little area away from the Niagara crowds.

Hi Stephen,

We really enjoy images of silky falling and flowing cascades and these have been beautifully captured.

A wondrous sight to behold - thank you for sharing... :)

Images from our recent-ish visit to Harlech Castle (Welsh ‘Castell Harlech’), Gwynedd, Wales.

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PL Elite/ ViewPoint and Adobe LrC/ PS with Tony Kuyper Panels).

You can find out more about Harlech Castle by clicking Here.

Phil and Karen

1. Harlech Castle sits atop a sheer rocky crag overlooking dunes with the Irish Sea beyond and is one of a series of fortresses built by King Edward I across North Wales between 1282 and 1289. (Together with other castles at Beaumaris, Conwy and Caenarfon, it is now a World Heritage Site).

  • Canon EOS R5
  • RF14-35mm F4 L IS USM
  • 14.0 mm

2. Security was tight - with a pair of sharp-eyed lookouts keeping close watch - but we managed to gain entry by pretending to be photographers…

  • Canon EOS R7
  • RF70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM
  • 200.0 mm
  • ƒ/6.3

  • ISO 250

3. The view across to distant Snowdonia (complete with a dusting of snow!). The rousing ‘Men of Harlech’ is Wales’s alternative national anthem, much loved by rugby fans and regimental bands.

  • Canon EOS R5
  • RF14-35mm F4 L IS USM
  • 35.0 mm
  • ƒ/8
  • 1/640 sec
  • ISO 1250

4. To add to the natural topographic protection, Harlech features a ‘walls within walls’ design and was built under the guidance of architect Master James of St George. (Note: once we committed to the battlements, a fierce rain squall let rip which ‘fortuitously’ saw other visitors scramble for cover).

  • RF14-35mm F4 L IS USM
  • 14.0 mm
  • ƒ/8

5. UNESCO consider Harlech to be one of ’the finest examples of late 13th century and early 14th century military architecture in Europe’. The ‘floating’ footbridge, shown here, was installed in 2015. Harlech Castle is now managed by Cadw, the Welsh Government's historic environment service.

6. Ffordd Pen Llech used to be the world’s steepest road (@ 37.45%) - we were almost halfway down when spectacular storm lighting saw us running back up to grab a few extra shots. We then walked down to the bottom (where another drenching rain storm lashed us!) and all the way back up again - as you do.

(Since 2020, when it was decided the gradient measurement should be taken along the centreline, the steepest road in the world is now officially Baldwin Street in Dunedin, New Zealand, @34.8%).

Hi Frank,

Looks like you're off to a flying start with your new tech - a beautiful composition, with lush colours and pleasing subject isolation amid a dreamy backdrop.

Well seen and caught - thank you for sharing... :)
