Last November I went on holiday on a Dahabiya down the Nile. I took my R5 plus 24-240 zoom, Canon M6 Mk2 and 3 lenses. First few days used my R5 exclusively soon realised carrying 1.5 kilos plus the associated bag and paraphernalia in 30+ deg heat was not well planned. The remainder of my...

I shoot in CRAW on my R5, in this instance, with an RF 24-240. Made 54 frames all on the same day.
Copied the memory to my laptop hard drive and batch processed with DPP4 to create JPGs. 7 frames have a ? on the top of them and they will not create a JPG. Hovering over the ? the message reads...
What is your opinion of front of lens protection filters?
In the analogue days it was easy to buy, a UV filter was sufficient and cost a few ££. Digital seems very different, very technical, can be very expensive.
Or is it all a con and we can still use cheap filters with no loss of image...

Where do you want Canon's R&D to go.
It seems Canon might be putting Pleasant pictures over high Quality pictures as the objective for future cameras. What are your options?

Buy a CF card is not a simple choice. They are expensive, up to £1000 (not a typo 1 thousand pounds) for a very large and very fast card. A vert modest card is still £50, but will it do what you expect?
This thread should help in choosing the most appropriate card for your work. Note work not...
Hi Timothy
I don't think you have a dedicated heading for Wish List, of all the extra features that could feasibly be included in our R cameras.
Maybe once a month an email could be sent to Canon development department with our desires. It's highly unlikely Canon are going to read this forum...
On this forum is a conversation private between the parties involved, or can anyone see them.
There seems to be confusion. Personally I think they are private.
Timothy, it's your form, what's the answer?
My phone announces when I get a reply to the thread I am following on RFS. Sometimes I have the forum open on the same page as I just sent a message and waiting for a reply. Nothing happens on the forum to say a new message is waiting. The only way to get the page to refresh is click on the...
The R5 is my first full frame digital camera. I knew it needed a lot of processing power for editing the images.
Besides the £5k for the body and lens, there is the £700 for a new computer. Another £ 200 for a CF card. Will the spending ever stop?
You don't need to invest in post production...
If someone had paid me £10 an hour I could have easily paid for a card in the time I have spent on research.
The CF scene is an absolute mine fields of choice, price, spec, reliability, availability.
First, you got to know what you want your camera to be capable of, not what your camera can...
Out of habit I have always recorder Raw and JPG files on cameras capable of it. It was convenient to have the JPG's ready straight out the camera. With the R5 the combined files size is almost 45 Mb, about 10 is for the JPG.
It is so easy to convert RAW to JPG with software I am wondering if...
I have heard of apps for cameras, never bothered to look into what they offer until today.
I'm not saying the app I put on my phone is any good or suitable for your use. I only wish I had a guide like this in my early days. So many features, so many variations. This app popped up in an advert...
It is possible the subject of CF cards is as new to you as your R series camera. It was for me.
I had heard of CF cards but never given it much thought as I have never needed one, until now.
I had to check with the camera instructions to see what the CF card spec was, basically it's a size B...
After being let down by using a SD card that was not up to the demands of my R5 I decided to go for a decent CF card.
Bear in mind I am unlikely to use the camera for video, but will be used for lots of high speed multi shots.
I want to be able to store a weeks holiday of pictures so going for...
The other day I took about 300 to 400 photos, all much the same subject all with the camera set to auto. All the pictures were recorded as jpeg and raw.
The first 300 odd pictures all recorded on the memory card complete with meta data. The remaining, almost 100 shots were also recorded except...
I tried to focus through the fence without success. I know I could have done it manually.
Have I missed a menu option that overcomes wire fences?
The attached picture shows the fence.
