Spent the day on a local river trying to find a rather lovely bird. The Dipper was busy delivering food to a nearby nest. Must be tiring as it didn't stop in the number of hours I was there. Quite an enigmatic bird.View attachment 27645View attachment 27650View attachment 27651
Hi Nick,

Great captures of wonderful creatures in a beautiful and relaxing looking spot. Plenty of fine feather detail and excellent eye-pop in evidence here.

Dippers are so nimble - and they never seem to slip over on the slippy rocks. (We should be so lucky!).

Thank you for sharing... :)

What I've always liked about walking around the cities in Europe is the contrast of old & new, quiet back-streets & bustling cities.
These 2 shots were taken in Bordeaux, France a few hours apart, less than 200 metres from each other.
Looking East down Rue du Cancera, a short walk in the opposite direction takes us to the main shopping area along Rue Sainte-Catherine. They could be two different worlds.

Hi Myles,

As you observe, two vastly contrasting shots, but both bursting with character and interest for the viewer.

(We must admit, we much prefer to wander old - and quiet - streets... :) ).

Well seen and beautifully captured - thank you for sharing.

Hi Nick,

This is some venue for the big day - a stunning place for photography.

(Our first visit and we were very impressed).

Hi David,

Great shot! Plenty of ambition and determination on show here from this beautiful creature - mind you, big bird family = big nest needed we guess!

Thank you for sharing... :)

Thank you. Next thing I need to do is actually find the nest. Oddly, I have yet to see a heron nest.

Cool. We went to several temples when we were in Tokyo. I'll ask my wife and friends if we seen this one, if they remember.

Hi David,

Cheers - appreciated!

That shot (and the one looking from the opposite end) sold themselves - as is often the case, this place was designed to impress and it certainly does.

Hi funjp,

You've served up a feast for the eyes here with an absolute treasure trove of interest for any viewer - it's almost impossible to pick a favourite (though, if pushed, we'd go for the B&W/ Colour treatment - very nice!).

Well done indeed and thank you very much for sharing these here... :)

Today weather was bit crappy, cold and strong wind but i managed to go out and get some photos. The coolest part was getting images of flying swallows, tricky little birds :p

Hi Bartosz,

A terrific series of images here, with excellent sharpness and detail captured throughout - the BIF are absolutely masterful (with #3 being our favourite).

Well done and thank you for sharing - keep up the great work! :)

I'm glad that you liked the pictures . This event happens every yeat at this temple , around the first week of April .

Thanks Phil . The performance pictures are more like snapshots , as I didn't know the play . I only realized there would 4 performers around 10 minutes before the performance . It's less complicated to get a good picture with only 1 performer . Anyway , I also liked the picture with the Geishas . I was concerned about posting it because I didn't want to give incentive for other photographers to do a paparazzi thing in Kyoto . There's been quite a backlash in Japan about such issue . Those Geishas were participants in the temple's ritual's parade in the Tokyo's streets adjacent to this temple . Selective color treatment in Photoshop is a bit of a cliche , but in such a crowded shot , I didn't see any other solution . Even if I used a shallow depth of field , I guess I still wouldn't be able to isolate those 2 Geishas from the other participants in the parade . The Geishas' photo is still a work in progress . I want to see how it looks printed .

Yet another black kite. When there's nothing else to shoot, the dependable black kite will always show up.View attachment 27760
Hi David,

A spectacular 'last resort' to have available - beautifully captured with the perfect pose, flight feather detail and a subtle touch of eye catch-light.

Thank you for sharing... :)

A venture out in the early light, the sky full of promise. As ever the minute you step out the door the promise fades. Still happy to have captured this Blackbird being fluffed up by the wind.View attachment 27845
Hi Nick,

The perfect blackbird shot (and what a cutie!).

Thank you for sharing... :)
