After the Hares had vanished, I was watching a group of Starlings feeding in a nearby field, creeping down the hedgerow I managed to capture a few frames of one catching up with the rest of the group. I didn't realise I shot these at a rather high ISO, fortunately LR denoise is rather wonderful.View attachment 26052View attachment 26053
Hi Nick,

Wow, you definitely caught the 'b' of the 'bang' here - a fascinating sight.

(You're right - Adobe Denoise has been a revelation - well worth the wait).

Hi Nick,

Excellent captures of extraordinary looking creatures (love #3 - the B&W/ silhouette treatment works really well).

Thank you or sharing... :)

Thanks Phil, it suited it better than the colour rendition, fortunately the Hare itself was mostly in focus, the others were a little blurred as it was moving at quite a rate of knots. The tracking on the R5 is fantastic if set up properly. The R7 is a little quicker and the eye focus is really sticky. I'm off shooting water birds today trying out a new gimbal.

Hi Peter,

A superb shot with terrific detail captured - particularly so given the wide range of movements involved.

Well done - and thank you for sharing... :)

Karen kindly allowed me to take her R7 + RF100-500 for this morning's stroll around the local woods (as a change from my usual R5 + RF100-500).

The venue was again Hartshill Country Park, Warwickshire, England - and I kept to my well rehearsed tactics (random camera settings - and luck!)...

(Shot raw and processed with: DxO PhotoLab Elite, Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop with Tony Kuyper TK9 Panels).

Nice composition and excellent clarity as usual and you set that bar for me. Those RAW files you sent me showed me there is nothing wrong with my post processing. I'm going to put more effort into my technique as I'm a little shaky, I get a little lazy with static subjects and take IS for granted with slower SS. I'm going to shoot without my TC for a while. Key is getting close enough to minimise crop. Nothing wrong with the TC but it does have a little CA now and then.

Hi Only RF,

Cheers - appreciated!

'Getting close' is definitely a major advantage when it comes to capturing the fine feather detail.

The R7 helps in this respect as I can stand a lot further back and get the same framing as I would with my R5 - and the skittish birds are (much) happier.

(Only the local robins are reasonably comfortable about hanging around and posing - sometimes).

Having said all that, you can rest assured our 'Bin' is a full as everyone else's after a session... :)

Phil

Good points. The samples you sent me with your R were similar. I'm often cropping quite a bit more. I have to remember that.

Hi David,

A fantastic series of nailed-on captures - very difficult to single out a favourite, but for us #3 (just) shades it. (Long-tailed tits are absolute cuties too!).

Well done - and thank you for sharing... :)

Hi Don,

We're pleased to hear you enjoyed our images.

The Sumatran Laughingthrush was on top form for both of our visits, very inquisitive and happy to be singing (in the rain... ) - a real cutie.

As the sun dipped into the golden hour, I loved the way it lit this Oak tree up.
The 10-18 EF S is a stellar lens.

Hi Nick,

Oak trees are absolutely wonderful for photography - art in nature! - and this one's a real beauty. Stupendous sky you've captured here too.

(The EF-S10-18mm is a terrific lens for this kind of shot).

Thank you for sharing... :)

Have to agree Phil, the lens is simply outstanding for the money. It's a great walkaround lens as it weighs next to nothing.

With a misty start and mid-morning sun being forecast, I headed for the woods earlier in search of angel beams (I'm still searching... ).

Having found neither mist, sun, or (consequently) angel beams I was left looking for some 'volunteer birds' with my trusty R5/ RF70-200 f/2.8.

(Shot raw and processed with: DxO PhotoLab Elite, Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop with Tony Kuyper TK9 Panels and Topaz Studio 2).

Hi Plamen,

A huge amount of interest in these shots - you've captured tremendous details, colours and characters to showcase the joy and excitement of this event.

(It looks like everyone involved had a lot of fun!).

Well done indeed - and thank you for sharing... :)

Hi Art,

A series of absolutely extraordinary captures, each one outstanding in its own right (but for us, the utterly mesmeric #4 just shades it).

Keep up the fantastic work - and thank you for sharing... :)
