From what I've read it increases during the winter when many chaffinches migrate from Europe. It can pass from bird to bird via surfaces so cleaning garden feeders is recommended. Or course many birds will be feeding from multiple gardens and feeders so it's a difficult one to control unfortunately.

Stunning shot and lovely composition Kathryn. Don't worry about the gaps, it's all about having fun and sometimes life or the weather just gets in the way. There are plenty of gaps in my entries too as I've been so busy with family stuff over the holiday period and the weather hasn't been particularly kind either, but I'll keep going and hope to have a little more time to shoot again soon once another house move is out of the way this week.
