Your Photo of the Week

Week #8 (apologies, missed a few weekends due to being away) - Rievaulx Abbey in Yorkshire. A lovely building with much to see and photograph, alas, too many people around to take the images I really wanted to.

Week #9 and surprise surprise, it's another flower, a Cosmos this time. I'm finding I really enjoy photographing flowers, the soft, subtle shades and contrasting foliage really inspire my creative juices to flow. Time to influence the wife's flower planning for next year! Lense used was a Tamron 70-300mm, set in macro mode at 180mm.

Week 24 - I found this stunning little Spurge Hawk-moth Caterpillar when I was out for a walk. These caterpillars have been introduced from Europe to help fight the invasive weed Leafy Spurge. The caterpillars are vivid and bright but in contrast the moth is surprisingly drab. The red spike is on the tail end.

Week 19. I've not been out much lately so I'm getting a behind here! Still having fun with the RF 100 macro lens though! :)

I was trying out my new R5 in the back yard and my dog, Murphy, wanted test out the animal eye AF with some distracting elements. AF worked!

Week 16: Definitely missed quite a few weeks This is one of the windows at Boxgrove Priory, West Sussex. My Latin is on a par with that of the most famous St Custard's alumni alumnus, Nigel Moelsworth but, unlike him, I can turn to Google to get the following translation - I am a man under the influence.

Great action shot!
Thanks Kathryn! I had a whole session of action shots out in the fields. They are so rewarding as I had major surgery in July for head and neck cancer and i have had issues raining and holding the camera for action shots. But it is improving daily so onwards and upwards.

So sorry to hear you have had to face cancer. Wishing you all the best in your recovery.

Fast, sharp, and lightweight! A great lens
This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...
