Ahhh, what's the trick to posting these inline as opposed to small image links? Using insert vs upload? And which is preferred here?

Went for a fall drive

Hey BobU, Welcome. FYI I use the Upload images link at bottom of reply box. After uploading, it gives you an option of thumbnail or full. Choose full if that is what you are asking.

Caught this today after the clouds broke and we went to the park.

EDIT: Been playing with DXO PureRaw noise reduction. It's a little finicky, but I love the output so far.
Nice capture. But, I could not figure out the strangely blurred spot almost in the middle of the frame.

Osprey : Pandion haliaetus
Moreton Bay, Queensland

Ospreys are the true cosmopolitans amongst birds; with the exception of Antarctica, they can be found hunting shorelines of every continent.

Can anyone identify its prey?
Awesome shot Dave. We have, here in Mandurah, 2 purpose built towers which the local Ospreys use to nest. They are about 10 minutes walk from my front door, on the estuary, so hope to get some decent shots this season trying out the new RF 800 F11. I'm thinking your Osprey has a Bream or Perch. Not really sure.

I think that was a finial on the wrought iron fence.

Cosmos Bokeh.

A late blooming (for us here in Germany) flower, Cosmos bipinnatus. Otherwise known as Garden Cosmos. But, in German it is called Schmuckkörbchen", which when translated directly would be "Jewelry Basket". At any rate, I think the flowers are indeed a gem.

Hi Bryan,

A gem indeed and the thread is all the richer for it - thank you for sharing! :)

Can the photo be with an R camera and R, FL, FD and EF lenses. I have no RF lenses (Yet) because my EF lenses work so wonderfully and do not want to take a beating on them.
Hi Lawrence,

Absolutely 'Yes!' - any image taken by an R system camera is very welcome. Non-R system/ non Canon lenses add diversity and interest. :)

Couldn't resist. This one from the zoo visit last week: Kakīānau

They were introduced to NZ in the 1860s, but may also have arrived by themselves - they're very common, and a legal game bird. I have tried eating them - once only. Tough as old boots. A friend from WA pointedly refused to even try a taste: "I'm not eating my state animal", she said. Good decision...
Hi Gareth,

Definitely a creature with character (and one to avoid if spotted on the menu!)... :p

Hi Edward,

A superb capture - love the colour and detail in the eyes.

I really like DxO NR - particularly for colour/ detail retention on higher ISO files (I use PhotoLab Elite - but the same NR tech).

Hi David,

Wow, you absolutely nailed this one - fantastic drama!

(I'm not so hot on wildlife, but I think that's a fish... ).

A few of my recent R3 shots. Maybe not subjectively my best work (my favs still from non R cameras over the years) but these subscribe to my quest for tack sharp along with intesting subjects and compositions.
Hi Bob,

A terrific set of images, rich with detail and interest for the viewer - thank you for sharing... :)

Hi Bob,

Welcome to the thread! There's a great guide by Tim for posting images which can be found Here.

Thumbnail or Full is up to you, but my personal preference is Full. :)

All caught up after a short break to Portmeirion, North Wales (a trip in our camper van 'Frank'). Mediocre weather, but images to appear at some point.

In the meantime, some re-edits (by Phil) of shots (by Karen) from a recent visit to Chester Zoo, Chester, England.

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PhotoLab Elite/ Nik Collection, Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop with TK-9 Panels and Topaz Labs Studio 2).

WONDERFUL shots!!

And thanks for the compliments and tips, Phil.

When I am out on my walks I try not to get so focused on one theme, that I overlook a simple composition.

It's almost like having it at your fingertips but not under your thumb! Many years ago, I photographed one perched on Chinese Lantern flowers. It posed for me for about 45 minutes. The workshop leader told me: "She would not move much because she is pregnant!"
I did not want to post it here because it was not done on an RF camera, but I just posted it on Instagram:

Hi Dean,

Well caught indeed - and what a sight to behold!

If the thumb was Karen's she'd be saying - 'Hey Phil, get a shot of this... Phil? Hello?...' (I'd be heading off into the distance... ).
