Sometimes I like to go back and rework an image. First time around I think I over saturated it.
So I edited for a more subdued look. And perhaps a bit more natural. Curious what preferences here are.

Not having been there, I will say the second version reflects the expected mood given the other variables like the cloud formations, rain, etc.

The Spoiler confirmed my speculative view of the image. I wonder if these experiments can be done in several stages on several frames that can be combined to desired levels of complexity. I cannot help but think how it might have worked with fewer yellow/orange lines.

I like both, but also prefer the second one. I think it is because there is a bit more tonal differentiation in the rocks.

Hi Stephen,
As others have mentioned, without having been there it's impossible to say which one best reflects reality, but my preference is for the second version (less 'stark/ overcooked'). Having said that, I'd be tempted to brush in a few areas of the first one @ 50%-ish to add some selective pop (but that's just me!).
Someone once said - and it may have been me - an image is never finished, you just stop fiddling around with it.
(I do enjoy an occasional retrospective fiddle...

Images from our recent ride on ‘The Harbourmaster’ (Welsh ‘Yr Harbwrfeistr’) train service run by the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, which travels between Porthmadog and Caernarfon through the Snowdonia National Park in northwest Wales.
(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PhotoLab Elite/ ViewPoint and Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop with TK-9 Panels).

1. The Ffestiniog Railway is the world’s oldest narrow gauge railway with almost 200 years of history.
2. The steam locomotive for our (return) journey was Garratt No. 87 (an NGG16 2-6-2+2-6-2T built by Beyer Peacock, originally used on the 2ft gauge South African Railway system).
3. The Ffestiniog Railway and it’s infrastructure are now an integral part of the UNESCO ‘Slate landscape of North Wales’ World Heritage Site.
4. The Welsh Highland Railway is the UK’s longest heritage railway, running for 25 miles from Porthmadog through the Aberglaslyn Pass and the village of Beddgelert, past the foot of Snowdon at the Rhyd Ddu halt station and then on to Caernarfon (with its modern £3.5 million terminal station, opened in 2019).
5. Garratt No 130, passing through Rhyd Ddu halt station (the line beyond is single track, requiring the hand-over of a ‘permissive baton’).
6. View from the train. The summit of Snowdon (Welsh ‘ Yr Wyddfa’) - the highest mountain in Wales (3,560ft) and the busiest mountain in the UK. (You can either walk up it, or - in summer - ride up it on the Snowdon Mountain Railway!).
