Nick's posts reminded me of something I was meaning to upload. Some rice terraces up in the mountains on a cold day.

Hi David,

Unsurprisingly, similar feedback - great use of high key/ contrast B&W to produce a very striking image.

(Great use of leading lines to guide the viewer through the fascinating scenery).

Thank you for sharing... :)

Hi Nick,

Two very dramatic high key/ high contrast B&W treatments which perfectly pop these 3D-esque landscape shots (terrific skies and - incredibly - no rain).

Great work - and thank you for sharing... :)

Thanks Phil, It was actually nice shooting at low ISO without worrying too much, the lack of light these last couple of months has been thoroughly depressing, It seems to be always be a nice day when I'm at work. The R5 becomes a totally different beast when the light is good.

Hi Nick,

We feel your pain - it always seems to be a nice day when we're somewhere else... 😂 😂 😂

Thank you.

Hi Brucey,

An absolutely sublime capture! Well worth your efforts - hopefully you got your due rewards?

(We think this shot would also work well with a B&W treatment).

A similar composition, but featuring sunrise/ sunset (or perhaps a creatively colour-popped re-edit of this shot?) should be worth aiming for. (Good luck!).

In the meantime, well done here - and thank you for sharing... :)

Hi,

Many thanks, it was a rough old day and unusually for Brighton sea front I was the only one daft enough to be on the beach taking photos.

I did try B&W out on a similar photo with a slightly different composition but plumped for the washed out look, with the the grim looking sea colour too. The theme of the competition was dilapidation and I was looking to convey atmosphere.

It came 2nd, so not bad at all.

My 15 year old granddaughter finally got her braces off after wearing them for 4 years! She asked me to take some portraits of her and her new smile! I set up some lights in my garage/workshop and after shooting there we stopped at a local park. It was overcast so very nice for outdoor portraits.

Great set. I particularly like the b&w in the middle - looks beautifully natural.

Hi Brucey,

2nd! Excellent - well done indeed... :)

Caught this yesterday: a black kite chasing off an osprey (I think the osprey was a little too close to the kite's nest).View attachment 25846
Hi David,

Real drama in the skies evidenced here - well seen and very well caught!

(It appears that 'exiting stage right' is a rather good move for the osprey).

Thank you for sharing... :)

Sunday February 25, 2024 night skies were clear making capturing the moonrise over the DC Monuments possible. Here are two blended image from a Manassas Warrenton Camera Club Meetup I organized taken from the Carilion Bell Tower area next to the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington Virginia. The second image was taken as the moon was just over the tip of the Washington Monument and because the moon rose around 7:10 the skies were quite dark. The first blended composite image shows 3 stages of the moon rise on this night. These images were created by combining layers of the moon captured with a shorter exposure and faster shutter speed with a longer exposure and a smaller F stop to give lights a starburst effect, create light trails of cars and lighter monuments. I also decided to clone out some work fences and a trailer in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

Hi Art,

Mind-blowingly sublime images - wonderful work and an absolute joy to behold.

(We simply wouldn't know where to start - or finish - creating something like this).

Well done indeed - and thank you for sharing... :)

Hi RW,

For some reason ducks always bring a smile to our faces and these here are no exception - wonderful warm colours in image #1 and a pair of little cuties (with splendid eye-catch-light) in image #2.

Well caught and thank you for sharing... :)

Thank you for the kind words P&K.

Our final images for this month are (yet again) from an unremittingly soggy Hartshill Country Park, Warwickshire, England.

(Shot raw and processed with: DxO PhotoLab Elite, Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop with Tony Kuyper TK9 Panels and Topaz Labs Photo AI/ Sharpen AI).

Due to the abysmally bad weather here in Derbyshire over the last few months, I have confined myself to shooting from my office window. I have various perches set up near the feeders. It has worked pretty well. A few images from the winter months.

These are wonderful!! You must have incredibly clean windows. Those are great perches!

Two recent images from a photoshoot I went to lately.

Hi Hali,

Two wonderful images. Captivating compositions, perfectly complimented by the treatments.

An imaginative and artistic approach which delights the viewer - these are right up our alley!

Well done - and thank you for sharing... :)

I was going to ask about that. I have been on the road so have not been able to do a lot of editing last week. I don't have a lot of great shots from here but we did miss miss this event by one day. Waves were pretty wicked the next day as well. There was so much salt in the air we could taste it. Glasses covered and at one point my eyes burned a little.

Hi Only RF,

If suddenly find yourself in the middle of next month (happens to us all the time... ) - you can either post stuff here, or to the current month's thread.

Those waves do look rather alarming (but incredible) - we look forward to seeing your shots... :)
