Almost lost the first one because I deleted it and had to recover it using the card's recovery tool. I don't see osprey's very often back home.

Hi Only RF,

Two wonderful captures of absolutely beautiful creatures - terrific eye-pop with both subjects (and very well-controlled given the competing demands).

Extremely pleased to read you were able to recover the lost files - been there and had the panic attack - these were definitely worth the effort involved.

Thank you for sharing... :)

Ahem, do you think I could get some privacy in the little bird's room?

Hi David,

A finely timed shot which perfectly highlights one of the reasons why I always recommend wearing a hat when photographing birds...

(Otherwise, it's a delightful composition! 😅).

Thank you for sharing... :)

:ROFLMAO: I always do, but up until today, It's been to keep part of my head from getting sunburned. Might now need to invest in a waterproof one.

There is a bald eagle nest not too far from my home, it has 2 chicks who are starting to get pretty big. I went and waited for some movement and the chicks suddenly got up and began to flap their wings, maybe testing them out for a future flight. The nest is fairly high up in a pine tree and there are only a few spots to shoot from.

Hi Chris,

Stunning captures of absolutely wonderful and truly majestic creatures! Well controlled shots too given the competing demands of the lighting/ subjects.

(You certainly wouldn't want to get on the bad side of these clearly protective parents).

Thank you for sharing... :)

This winter has been one of the wettest, and coldest, since we’ve moved to Florida. Seems every time we head out to do something, this is the view from the front seat.View attachment 25608
Hi Tony,

When it comes to being a magnet for seemingly ceaseless and utterly miserable rains, we definitely feel your pain.

(I've said it before, but me and Karen would appear to be rain gods and the weather is simply trying to please us!).

We should probably take great care not to be in the same place at the same time... 😂😂😂

Having said all that, wonderful shot - well seen and caught - and thank you for sharing... :)

Due to the abysmally bad weather here in Derbyshire over the last few months, I have confined myself to shooting from my office window. I have various perches set up near the feeders. It has worked pretty well. A few images from the winter months.

Hi David,

A terrific series of shots of beautiful creatures - the robin is (just) our favourite. Garden/ office feeders/ perches are a great idea for capturing local wildlife.

(We were last up your way - Castleton - back in December. We got absolutely drenched. 😅 ).

Keep up the great work - and faith - summer is fast approaching! Thank you for sharing... :)

Thanks I got lucky. That's at the end of a pretty slow day.

This morning's 'can I rescue a lost cause?' coffee-break processing workout.

(s/w: DxO PhotoLab Elite and Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop with TK-9 Panels).

1. As shot - tiger cub lurking in shade, with unhelpful enclosure foliage and fencing (I reached over as far as I could without falling in...).

2. After - what a little cutie... (Don't look too close... 😅).

I was not going to post this one. Pushed cropping a bit. Sometimes you can and sometimes you can't. No two files are alike.

Hi Only RF,

The R series cameras have incredible crop-ability, but as you say, everything will have its limits - eventually... :)

Love the Cormorant image, feather detail is great,

The feather detail on the Cormorant is just sublime. Do you find the extender slows down the AF at all?
It's really tough to tell. I think it does a tad but not enough to really make a big difference. It's still pretty snappy. The reduced area you have to find the subject in the EVF makes a bigger impact. Depending on the light there is some CA with the extender.

Thanks for the info, I think I will stick to the native focal length for the time being. I'm really pleased with the IQ from the 100-500 and its a bit lighter than my Canon 100-400.

We have had a pair of Jackdaws nesting in our chimney for the last 2 years. they stay for a few seconds, still very nervous. Very much grab and go!

Hi Nick,

A striking capture of a striking creature - we like the subject isolation and choice of composition. Very skittish as you say (even for the avian community).

Generally not minded to hang around for an image (although the ones at Chester Zoo are happy to buck the trend if you're having a picnic lunch... 😅 ).

Thank you for sharing... :)

Another Japanese white-eye. Lower light here:View attachment 25635
Hi David,

Well seen and beautifully caught - the reduced light helps to emphasise the subject's gaze (it looks fascinated by your tech - or perhaps it's own reflection?). Very pleasing and complimentary foliage too.

Thank you for sharing... :)
