Winter Shower…

Hi David,

Very similar to our summer (but sunnier)...

On a serious note, the sun, rain and leading lines of the ground water all combine to produce a very satisfying image. Well seen and caught!

Thank you for sharing...

I read somewhere that June temperatures in London and Brisbane are much the same.

In the photo the 'horizon' might appear a bit wonky: actually, our view towards the open Pacific is blocked by one of the largest sand islands in the world (Moreton Island).

Note the mangroves on the right and their 'breathing roots' poking up through the mud closest to the camera. (My knowledge of botany is limited!)

Just stunning photos of the rockies! That second-to-last photo with the green water in particular is stunning, I love the haze of sunlight, and the shadows the mountain is casting

We had a couple of visitors in our front and back yards and I published posts to share their photographs on my site. Here are the leading characters!

That’s Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, Canada. We were able to go canoeing on that lake for about an hour. This was taken on a walk around the lake. It really is that emerald color from the glacial flour in the runoff that supplies the lake. Basically rocks ground into a powder by the glaciers.

No: this photo isn't a pano.

Once again I was caught out with just one do-it-all lens — my RF100–500, of course — and had to figure out how to capture this motor yacht heading for the open ocean from the sheltered waters of Moreton Bay.

My choice was to play by the rule of thirds and hope for the best.

Hi David,

Another wonderfully pleasing shot of an expansive (and gorgeously blue) scene.

We live in central England - about as far away from the sea as you can get in every direction, so images such as yours always capture our attention.

We love our RF 100-500 - it's such a versatile lens. Perhaps we'll pop down the local canal and see if we can replicate this shot (using brown)...

The last of the images from our recent visit to Chester Zoo, Chester, England.

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PhotoLab Elite/ Nik Collection, Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop and Topaz Studio 2).

Bell 206L Helicopter

I was hoping to shoot some birds in our backyard (once again no luck) when along came this chopper, returning from a session killing off fire ants.

Hopefully, the next time that I hear one approaching, I'll remember to use a slower shutter speed to blur the blades a bit. Thoughts on that, anyone?

Hi David,

Crikey - how big are the ants...

(I have no particular expertise/ talent when it comes to aircraft - or anything else  - but I've seen fairly low shutter speeds cited - 1/200-320-400th for propellor aircraft and for helicopters >1/160th, or lower. If you do find the secret to success perhaps you could come back and let us all know... :)).

Nice shot too!
