Hey P&K,
great shots of the castle, and as I commented once before it is fascinating to see how the "upper" classes lived not so long ago. In the states, we have some similar style homes in Newport Rhode Island, the gilded age summer retreats of the uber rich (Asters and Vanderbilts, etc.). More rooms than a mid-sized hotel with a staff to match. Makes the average person and their home feel so insignificant (and poor ).

The places we visit are impressive (but they're not for us!). Many are now managed by The National Trust, English Heritage or CADW (Wales), but some - like Belvoir - are still family owned homes (we visited as 'Historic Houses' members).

(We can just about afford all the various memberships... ).

The ones over in the US must also be fascinating properties.

The end of the school year here in Texas is this week so lots of events for my grandkids like awards ceremonies, graduation and dances. Here are a few of my granddaughter and friends the night of their school ball. These 14 year old girls show a lot more leg than when I was a teenager. My granddaughter is the one in purple and showing off all the money her parents have spent getting her teeth straightened out!

Yes I shot my goddaughter and her sisters grads. I figured the next stop would be the red carpet at the oscars. Well maybe 10 years ago. These days those stars may well not wear any cloths at all and save some money.

Yes, kids and parents were happy. I upload all these school pictures (sports, etc.) to a Flickr album for the parents and kids to download. I did find it amusing that only one boy was invited to the dinner at a restaurant with the ladies..... lucky man!

On the same theme of kids and the end of the school year. Last night my wife and I attended the local Middle School Athletic Awards ceremony. Our 8th grade granddaughter participated in just about every sport they offered this year, she also was a cheerleader for the football team. She asked me to not only take pictures of her throughout the year at these events but also the others so I even photographed 100's of the kids.

The ceremony had a slideshow and I was amused as about 90% of the images projected were mine. They even picked up my images for the yearbook, with my blessing of course.

I had planned to just get a few shots of my granddaughter as she was supposed to get an award or 2 but in the end I just stepped up and took pictures of all the kids receiving awards as the school had not planned on a photographer being there.

I had some fun before the program started shooting candids of the kids who were seated in chairs on the gym floor. Typical teens, looking at their phones and taking selfies. It was fun watching them and catching their expressions, sort of like street photography indoors.

I shot with my Canon R7 and the Tamron 18-400mm lens. I find it a good combination and the large zoom range allowed me to get tight closeups as well as wide angle shots for the groups of kids on stage holding up their certificates.
