Your R System Images - May 2024

Same principles apply with random raw fiddling as we move unsteadily through day 2 of 'heating valve fix'.

Shots taken at Loch Lomond and The Kyle of Lochalsh, Scotland in 2021 - but the edits were done today!

(s/w: DxO PL 7 Elite/ Nik Collection 7, Adobe LrC/ PS with Tony Kuyper Panels and Topaz Labs Studio 2).

Edit (@19:10): The hot water system is fixed! :D (That was a l-o-n-g day in the saddle for the heating engineer, who was absolutely superb - cheers matey!).

We finally got some clear skies so I was able to test out my new R6 MKII. Love it so far, it is very fast on tracking wildlife. There is a bit of a learning curve as some of the buttons on my other cameras have moved or have different functions. Only took 2 lenses; my RF 16mm and the RF 800mm f/11.

Overall I am happy with the purchase and while I had planned to sell my Canon R, I think I might also sell the R7. The R7 does have a bit more reach due to the crop sensor and a slightly bigger file size but the rolling shutter and lack of the ability to add a vertical battery grip have really bugged me.

I bought my R6M2 last Friday. I still need to learn a lot coming from a Nikon D500. I've been trying it out all weekend. I made these photos from Kenzo (my brother's French Bulldog)

Looks like you're already having a lot of fun - thank you for sharing... :)

Hi Arjan,

Nice stuff everyone. I have not been keeping up as much. Going through what Phil did. Renovations. Oh the joy.

Sorry I've been so quiet again, we've been away in that American mecca of wildlife -Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Had a great two weeks there, fully of snow and cold and wildlife. So 15K worth of images later, I will be posting a bit as I go through them. Especially since I just retired, no excuses to put off developing my images now!
Two images to start off with. I think I said we had snow- 12 out of the 14 days we were there. In May. Made for some unique conditions.
The first is a moose way out, this one in Grand Teton NP, the second is a tree in the snow, near the Moulton Barn, also in Grand Teton NP

Hi Only RF,

We feel your pain... :)

(Our project is still ongoing - it appears we've become entombed in a s-l-o-w m-o-t-i-o-n time-loop featuring the 'returning things to normality' phase).

Hi Hali,

Congratulations on your retirement - may it be long, healthy and happy!

Two fantastic images which shout 'it's cold!'. What an environment for the (very well wrapped up) photographer - we're looking forward to seeing more!

(You did well to keep a steady hand).

Thank you for sharing... :)
