Hi Only RF,

A couple of nailed on (actual) BIF's, with great control of light (particularly so, given the dynamic range of the subjects).

Thank you for sharing... :)

Thanks. I'm now using Adobe Neutral as my profile. Not as punchy as the other profiles including Canon's but it does give more leeway with whites and blacks. Those RAW files you sent me helped with a few that as well. After applying Auto and tweaking a bit the colours were pretty close to your posts here. That really helped me a lot as well. It takes a while to get past the first results which are pretty flat.

I did use masking to cool down the area between the shoulder and head of the second bird. I never touched the wing so I'm not sure where that bit of white on the closest wing, front edge came from.

Hi Trent,

Two fine images to warm the hearts of us poor rain drenched Brits.

We like the pleasingly golden sun stars, warm highlights and dramatic cloudscape in #1, but the huge expansive sky - which mirrors the leading line of the shore - and the perfect silhouetted pier stretching out to provide mid-ground interest makes #2 our favourite. (Though both eclipse our local mud bath!).

Well seen and caught in each instance - thank you for sharing... :)

The doves eye looks sharp. Nice feather detail.
Thanks! There were a bit problematic conditions as you see, snowing, however I like the results, especially squirrel. Time to walk around more)

Hi sosh,

Looks like a solid first outing for your new tech - 3 well controlled and detailed images on show.

Top marks to all involved given the conditions - no evidence of frost induced camera shake... 🥶

(That squirrel is an absolutel cutie!).

Thank you for sharing... :)

Thank you for the encouraging comments. I almost can't believe the shots I am able to take with our R6 mk II, compared to our previous Rebel T6.

Hi Only RF,

Two terrific captures of beautiful creatures in peaceful surroundings - plenty of fine detail in evidence and pleasingly warm colours.

(Our kitchen renovation has just begun, so 'peaceful surroundings' does not apply at Moore Towers at the present moment... 😅 ).

Thank you for sharing... :)

I’ve been through those renovations. Not very peaceful and the CEO got a little cranky :censored:

I do love a Goldfinch, used to have plenty in the garden, now not so much.
Managed a grab shot of this one in our Apple tree,

Karen has taken the sensible step of having a day in the office for 'an urgent team meeting', so is currently enjoying a 20-mile buffer zone...

Thank god for Adobe AI noise reduction, it certainly does an outstanding job, I never really worry about high ISO anymore.

My feeding station has been especially busy these last few days, with constant activity and lots of visitors, I guess it was this that attracted my latest visitor. Just caught a little commotion out of the corner of my eye, there was one of the resident wood pigeons sat on the feeder, not 10 feet away from it was the Sparrowhawk. It gave it the eye for about a minute, then swooped off.

Yes it has been a real boost. Nice exposure to that first bird. Blacks can be tough. Second one too.

I forgot to say. I just finished working on the file I posted just after your post. Bad weather the last few days so I was going through some older captures. Phil is not the only one having bad weather. He may be sending it our way. Big fans? :p

Forests around the Monchique area in Portugal. Due to droughts they have were battling huge devastating forest fires several years ago. Acres of Eucalyptus trees which are full of oil. Once a combustible starts it is hard to put out.

We drove through these areas before the fires and could not believe the devastation. The bald areas in the valley are burnt out areas.

Hi Chris,

A fascinating series of images to showcase the arrival of spring (we're only |<----- this much ----->| jealous! ).

Along with the many pleasures this heralds (including the lack of mud), there's plenty here to interest the viewer.

Thank you for sharing... :)

Hi Only RF,

Fascinating images (love the B&W treatment) with a somewhat sobering back story - hopefully a tale of destruction leading to new life emerging.

Thank you for sharing... :)

Hi Nick,

Terrific image - wonderful subject pose (including the all important eye detail) and isolation.

We certainly live in an age where there's a fantastic choice of superb NR.
