Spotting the landing

Canon R6MK2, Canon 100-500RF

Hi Jeff,

What a fantastic 'moment frozen in time' action shot! The perfect mix of movement blur (love the hair) and sharpness, with the all important detail on the subject's face and eyes to draw the viewer in. The two close onlookers add to the intensity of the scene as we all wait spellbound for the final outcome!

Well done - and thank you for sharing... :)

(Hopefully a safe landing - and a good result too!).

I took some photo friends down to the Texas Gulf Coast region SE of Houston. Not as much of a variety of birds but still, pretty good. I shot with my new R6 MkII and mostly my 800mm f/11 lens as it was quite bright today. A few shots with other lenses noted in the metadata.

Hi Bartosz,

Welcome to the world of the RF 100-500 - it's a truly fantastic piece of kit (and we absolutely love ours!).

A terrific series of images here to showcase your new tech - eye-catching image #3 being our favourite.

Thank you for sharing... :)

Hi Chris,

A fascinating mixture of wildlife and general interest shots here, each one holding a wealth of interest to attract and delight the viewer.

You've certainly captured a treasure of extraordinary and beautiful creatures set in their natural environments (most of which we'd have to visit a zoo to see - we're fairly happy about this when it comes to the ones with teeth!), but the 'little and large' canoeist vs bulk carrier scenario is (just) our favourite.

Well done and thank you for sharing... :)

Hi Hali,

Congratulations on your retirement - may it be long, healthy and happy!

Two fantastic images which shout 'it's cold!'. What an environment for the (very well wrapped up) photographer - we're looking forward to seeing more!

(You did well to keep a steady hand).

Thank you for sharing... :)

Thanks so much, Phil and Karen! It is taking a little getting used to not having a schedule, but I am only 3 days in so the schedule may be happening soon. We were very well wrapped up and happy to be so. We did a lot of in and out of the car, although we did put 2200 miles on our rental in the two weeks we were there 😳. My hopes are to go in the winter sometime, for that I will need better gloves. Probably heated ones, although I don't know if I can find them in my size (small hands).

Red Fox, Yellowstone NP, USA. Sadly these foxes are becoming habituated because people will toss meat to them from their car and truck windows. We saw this happen and I tried to reason with the woman doing it who said "other people do it" I tried to explain to her that by feeding these wild creatures they associated cars with food and had a higher chance of being hit. She just responded with several obscenities. I feel better that at least I tried.

Nice shot and good for you. At least the woman now has it in her head that there are likely people out there disapproving of her actions. It may not matter, but who knows?
