Love the Cormorant image, feather detail is great,

The feather detail on the Cormorant is just sublime. Do you find the extender slows down the AF at all?
It's really tough to tell. I think it does a tad but not enough to really make a big difference. It's still pretty snappy. The reduced area you have to find the subject in the EVF makes a bigger impact. Depending on the light there is some CA with the extender.

Thanks for the info, I think I will stick to the native focal length for the time being. I'm really pleased with the IQ from the 100-500 and its a bit lighter than my Canon 100-400.

Hi Steve,

Very pleased to hear you enjoyed our images and thank you for your kind words - much appreciated! :)

We have had a pair of Jackdaws nesting in our chimney for the last 2 years. they stay for a few seconds, still very nervous. Very much grab and go!

Hi Nick,

A striking capture of a striking creature - we like the subject isolation and choice of composition. Very skittish as you say (even for the avian community).

Generally not minded to hang around for an image (although the ones at Chester Zoo are happy to buck the trend if you're having a picnic lunch... 😅 ).

Thank you for sharing... :)

Another Japanese white-eye. Lower light here:View attachment 25635
Hi David,

Well seen and beautifully caught - the reduced light helps to emphasise the subject's gaze (it looks fascinated by your tech - or perhaps it's own reflection?). Very pleasing and complimentary foliage too.

Thank you for sharing... :)
